A cat needs to protect itself - if introduced as a kitten they can probably come to terms as how to handle things. Please, please, please don't ever declaw a cat - it is torture for them.

Go to the Marian County or Sumter county Humane Society to adopt a kitty. Many of them will already have been declawed.
Please don't get a cat and declaw it, however. It is a disgusting operation and shouldn't be done for many reasons. It is tantamount to cutting off the end digits of your fingers!

Why don't you adopt another small dog as a companion instead of a cat?Declawing a cat is the cruelest kind of mutilation.

You may want to introduce your dog to a cat to determine they are willing to befriend a kitty before adopting. An older cat can make a wonderful pet, but may not be fond of dogs if never exposed to one. This is a major decision and can not be taken lightly. What happens if your human expectations are fun and play for both animals turns into bitter fighting?

We have a beautiful 1yr old sweet calico female cat, spayed, declawed (front paws) and current on shots. She has gotten along extremely well with our 8 year old Lhasa Apso (they are buds). If you have previously owned cats and are familiar with their behavioral characteristics, you may find our cat (Pretzel) exactly what you are looking for. If interested please contact us at (352) 753-0300.

I have an 8 year old declawed female cat that I needs to find a good home for. I need to travel a lot for family reasons and will have to leave her alone. She loves to run around and play. Is shy at first but loves to be brushed.

Have you found a cat yet? We have a cat looking for a forever home. He is about 9 years old, declawed, very affectionate, loves to play with our 4 yr old Silkie Terrier. We think he is a Maine Coon. He is an inside cat with the exception of going out in the screened in lanai. He has never been a problem in any way.
If interested, please email rdgarreau@gmail.com. |

Annie,
I don't know if you've found a cat for your dog but I have a beautiful, affectionate, loving cat that I must give up. It breaks my heart to do so but we are going out of the country and cannot take him. He plays with my silky terrier all the time, it brings me such joy when they roll on the floor together. Taylor is 9 yrs old, declawed (front paws) and neutered. I can send photos of him. We think he is either full or part Maine Coon and is the most beautiful cat I've ever seen. I do not want to bring him to a shelter and would love to know he has a loving forever home. If you already have one and know of someone else who'd love my Taylor please call me at 352 693-2003 or email me at rdgarreau@gmail.com We are leaving 8/14 and I cannot rest until he has a home. Thank you, Deborah |
