I do. Last night I dreamed of Charlie, a rescued benji-type who died on earth in 1992. I grieved for 10 years, and still dream of him. It is always the same. I see him and feel confused that he is still alive, as if he has always been there but I had forgotten him. Always joyful to see him, he is the mischievous, energetic, full-of-heart Charlie who lifts my soul up in joy to greet him.

All the time. I hate to admit, but sometimes I see them too, just a blur out of the corner of my eye.

They take care of each other. Back in 2000 I lost two dogs and two cats in a house fire. In the beginning they visited me all the time. A few years ago I one of my dogs were very sick, I actually had made an appointment to put him down. A few days before the appointment I had a dream of all my pets who had passed, they were playing on a knoll under a tree. My pony was there and three dogs-I knew the third one was my sick dog. The next day he passed on his own, it made it easier knowing he wouldn't be alone.

I think they visit when you need them.

Patty, Charlie comes now and then, and in the dream, being happy that he is not really gone and I enjoy him as being still with me. Romping and a rascal!
Today, awake, I celebrate my boxer Emma. humble, perfectly rescued 4 yrs ago, We bond, rescuing each other.

I cherish the thought you said that they come when you need them.
What is different about Charlie in my dreams, from people is I am always seeking him, happy, focused on his presence, joyful, nurturing.

They will be with you as long as you need them. Probably forever. After six months we still feel her presence on the bed and catch flashes of her out of the corner of our eye. I am still talking to her. That funny feeling in you chest when you think of them is really their tail thumping in your heart because they are happy you are thinking of them. Angles are often disguised as dogs.

The first dog I had to have put to sleep was in 1981, an 11 year old Afghan named Uriah, named after the band Uriah Heep. It was in Pensacola and I had her buried in a pet cemetery with a granite headstone. It was marble with a silhouette of an afghan head next to her name and dates. I've only been back to Pensacola once, that was in 1996 and the marker and the cemetery was still there.

Our last dog was a cocker spaniel named Gypsy and she died at age 12 April 25, 2009 and is buried in the backyard of our house we owned in Baltimore. We bought a CYV here for the purpose of getting another dog, but the more time goes by the less I want to have another dog for all these reasons.

Yes! My Lab/Shepard mix Freeway dies 20 years ago - she was almost 15, but sometimes I feel her presence at the foot of the bed, or next to me on the floor. I find it very comforting, even though my husband thinks I'm nuts.

Not a day goes by that my wife and I don't think about and reflect on our live with Chester, our pug. We were fortunate to be adopted by him for 12 years and he was the best dog ever. He spent his last winter in The Villages when we bought our CYV. Once he realized that that funny thing in the garage that looked like a golf cart actually moved, and you could stick your head out the side and het some fresh air blowing on your face, Chester thought that this was the greatest invention that us crazy humans ever invented.

Whenever it is quiet in the house and I am alone in my thoughts, Chester seems to float into my mind and I get to enjoy a happy moment with him.

I have dreamed of our little Jack Russell "Patch" and think of him almost daily. He was right at 20 years old. He passed on in 2013. My children were 4 and 11 when we got him. We were all just devastated, he was almost 20 and the children 24 and 31. Don't ya know there was some serious crying going on.
So many people here have Jack Russells, and I see them and it warms my heart.
I don't think I could go through that again, so no pups for me.

I love your post.
I've had many dogs in my life, often three at a time; also cats and horses.
I often dream about my dogs that have passed to the other side.
I have no doubt that there will be a huge welcoming committee of dogs, cats and horses when I pass over the Rainbow Bridge.

I do grieve every day for my lost fury ones. We have adopted again, so we are trying to heal, but I don't want to forget. We have a shelf in our bedroom that holds pictures and cremated remains of out lost pets. I often stop and look at the pictures and smile with such great memories.

I dreamed that my late younger brother Chuck who passed on December 3, 2014 was cooking some blue and yellow bacon for my current pooch Beau. Chuck's clothes-- including some blue and yellow socks-- were placed out too but were easily confused with the bacon. At least, the socks were. Beau and my previous dog sport look a lot alike, so it could have been Sport in this dream rather than Beau.

These anniversaries of important family member's deaths are especially hard and with a younger brother going....

That's me in the middle. Chuck is the smaller boy: Robert the larger.
