Regardless, I think it's a good idea to leash your small dogs. Especially between dusk and twilight!

Friends who were over the other evening told us that when they left that they saw a coyote cross Buttonwood Run near Fishhawk Rec. Center. Pretty sure they were telling the truth.

coyotes
Okay, this is the area where the little dog was taken which
apparently backs to a golf course: East of Nancy Lopez...west of Taverna Red on 441 south of 42. I hope this helps those who do care about their pets. Better to be safe than sorry!! |

I am in the process of looking for the pictures I took of a coyote eating our neighbor's cat in our back yard here in Syracuse. We live in the city. If it happened here I don't know why it would be unlikely to happen in TV. (Of course once I find the pictures I need to learn how to post them. But then maybe that would be just too much!)

Nope... It really wouldn't make any difference if you found a picture of a pack of coyotes eating THAT dog, there are still people on here that would argue with you!
Some people just aren't happy unless they are stirring stuff up! (wow... I really cleaned that one up! Would have been censored anyway.) Just exactly WHAT village are you in??? |

We back on a golf course, and a hilly area with bushes. During the day I supervise my dogs when they're in the back yard, even though one of them weighs 70 lbs. At night I take my dogs out in the front yard, not the back. Who know what lurks in the bushes.

Thanks WestCoast, I have no doubt that this happened here in TV. My little maltese was stalked by a coyote while on his leash in Upstate NY. I could see the coyote in the bushes beside me; I quickly picked Duffy up and ran inside. At that time a pack of coyotes were passing through the area and we could hear them howling at night. Never underestimate a wiley coyote.

Doubters of Possible Coyote sightings!
I assume you realize with all the building going on South of 466A a great deal of habitat for these particular critters and others has been destroyed. Hence, they are starting to move North of 466A. Don't assume for a second that these critters are not in and around your neighborhoods...It would astound you what roams the streets at night..!!!

We hear them at night on Glenvieww CC in the eagle preserve along with many other wierd animal sounds. The dogs across the way are always barking at night too as they must see or sense something..................

Coyotes do exist and do run in packs. In Southern California, our local golf course was taken over by coyotes, they were feeding on the feral cats. They had to be trapped and removed. They had become very aggressive, even in our town home area, the coyotes were jumping the fences to get small dogs and cats. We never left our Yorkies alone in the gated backyard, coyotes are fast, the dogs would never have a chance.
Since moving here, The Villages is alive with abundant creatures, including coyotes. We will not leave our dogs even on the lanai, coyotes will break through the screen to get their treat, my beloved Yorkies. Be careful out there, we are the stewards of our pets.
