It was in the mid 90's this past week and the heat and humidity was way beyond what is healthy..for human or animal. Even though our dog wanted to be out, like a child, I had to pull him in after 10 minutes max. You have to be careful in the summer.
Many dogs are outside dogs. If I lived up north, my dog would be happy to be outside for hours in temperate weather and we certainly had the accommodations for safety; I think reprimanding someone for leaving a dog outside for hours was uncalled for. |

Just curious why anyone would want to leave their dog out for hours. Especially in Florida heat.

And it goes without saying, please never leave your dog in a parked car when it is hot. Cars heat up very quickly, and excessive heat can kill.

I agree that no one should be discouraged from asking a question. However, anyone moving to TV already knows that in the summer the average temp is around 95 degrees during the day with humidity that is almost off the charts. Pair that together with a dog who has a pushed-in face and under the best circumstances, has a breathing problem anyway.
I find it unconscionable that someone would even consider leaving this dog or any dog, outside in our summer weather, and I'm not even taking into consideration the almost daily downpours.

Veronica, I went back and read your previous posts and it appears to me that you have some trepidation about your pug living indoors and you are trying to find a way for the dog to live outdoors in your CYV (i.e, building a kennel in your yard). It will never work. Leaving a dog unattended outside is a major NO NO. Recently I saw a sign at the Farmer's Market notifying dog owners that the asphalt was a dangerous 116 degrees, so even walking your dog outside in the Summer is dangerous unless done early morning or late evening. A much better idea is to walk the dog on your lawn but you must be present. We have large predators such as eagles, owls and coyotes who are always looking for a meal. Keep your pug safe in the air conditioning.
