Default What license's do I need for my 2 cats?

Hi folks:
We will be moving to TV soon and have 2 cats we will be bringing. They are country cats and stay inside and outside. Do we need a license and where do we get them? We also need to look into getting a vet. Please post where there is a good vet, or if there are any I should not look into.

Kitty cats have to stay inside in the Villages unless they are on a leash, inside the lanai or in a stroller.

There is a leash law in Marion county for both dogs and cats and licenses are also required for both. When mine get their rabies shots, that when I get the license issued by the vet.

A lot of varmints around TV. Better keep them inside unless you are with them.

Is there a place where you need a license to own a cat? I guess I'm not a pet lover - never heard of that.

Between the coyotes and the Eagles, they'd be a quick lunch.

Remember even with a license they aren't allowed outside except on an enclosed lanai, which they will grow to love.

They would be in terrible danger if you allowed them to roam anyway. We have coyotes, hawks, eagles, and even alligators.

Welcome to The Villages. Our kitties say hi too.

Nevertheless, please do make sure they're micro-chipped. If they are escape artists like former outdoor cats, they could get out and get lost. it has happened down here. Cats have been lost and found. Much better potential to find them if they are chipped.

OBXgal has given great reference sites. Depending on which county you live in, the laws can be quite different. For example, Marion County requires cats outside to be on a leash--Sumter County does not. You may get confusing or conflicting answers on here so it is best to check with your local county for the true answers.
