I have offered to adopt Rufus if the county has a problem with sending him back to house where the little kid lives. What a sad story!

You are an exceptionally kind and compassionate person. Here is to hoping Rufus becomes a new member of TV.

I hope the boy learned a valuable lesson - don't ever disturb a dog while he's eating. Especially a beagle. Even the best behaved dog usually won't tolerate a person or other dog messing with his food. Sad story all around and I hope Rufus gets a reprieve.

Save Rufus! A Beagle Puppy Faces Euthanasia After Biting a Boy | Dogster

The boy and Rufus are still fast friends. Beagles can be testy, however, from my experiences with a few of them at Doggie Doo Run Run.

if you had read the story the baby came up behind the dog while eating, a typical reaction with any pet when they are eating. Second if you had read the story the boy misses his dog. This was not an act that does not deserve such a reaction by the county.

Understandably, the reaction was the mother's - she turned Rufus in. Can certainly understand how panicked she was and hope all's well that ends well.

He'll probably feel like a fool for repeating the same action that got him bit the first time!!

IMO that poor dog doesn't have a chance. I saw the kid on the news running around chirping like a fool, totally out of control. In the less than a minute he was on I felt like biting him myself.

If you ask me the mother should have kept the puppy, given away the kid and maybe have herself spayed.
