Default Saw 2 lost dogs, Lake Sumter Landing

At the St. Patrick's Day Festivities tonight (7:15pm) an older yellow lab and younger possibly retriever/lab mix were running loose through downtown Lake Sumter Landing. They appeared to be well fed and groomed but had no collars. Looked like the older yellow lab had an indentation of a collar, possibly they slipped out of them. I tried to call the lost dog number for the radio station but no answer. Several folks were concerned and gave them water and bits of food which they took. Say a prayer they stay safe.

Hey Deb, Won't do any good to call the radio station until you have the dog(s) in your possession. I tried that Thursday when I saw a loose bull dog (with a collar) near Bridgeport Hacienda villas. I was on my way to an appointment and could not stop and try to get the dog so I called the radio station and they told me they would not make an announcement until I had the dog in my possession. I came back by as soon as I could but couldn't find it. I sure hope he made it back home ok!

The older lab was with police officers (8:30) while the other dog stood about 6 feet away barking. He seemed frightened. When the police officer moved away the dog came over and stood with the lab. I would hope they were taken to a shelter.

That's a good outcome so far.

There should be serious penalties for the owns of those dogs. I am convinced we need a restrictive dog policy here because this place is over-populated

I am glad they were found and hope that their owners found them.

For as many dogs as we have, you RARELY see any running free and I have to believe that it was the result of some kind of an accident.

Most of our pups are so loved and they are doing a good job keeping people happy.

I agree, Graciegirl. Predominately, there seem to be mostly very responsible dog owners in the Villages. My pooch Sport ran away one evening because the front door had not been shut completely by our houseguest who left after we left for a dinner party further up the street. A good Samaritan, Nancy, picked him up and took him home where he enjoyed watching some TV with two Westies. She had called Community Watch which we did also after a few hours of patrolling the neighborhood for Sport. Sport had gone searching the neighborhood for me and met Nancy and her Westies instead.

which is overpopulated the people or the dogs?

I don't know what is intended by the term "restrictive" dog policy. There is a dog policy in effect for TV.

The problem is as in all the other rules/regulations/policies here or any place else....... the small number of violations that too often get trumpeted into a general condition when all that is needed is enforcement of existing rules/regulations/policies/laws.
