Default Searching for a reasonable Vet and good boarding options

Been going to Paws for my Yorkie.......but my latest visit for vomiting and diahrea cost me almost $400. I have never had a vet bill that high. Got to have better options in The Villages area than this!! I also am interested in hearing some recommendations for boarding. Thanks.

I really love Dr. Valdez in Fruitland Park (Park Heights Veterinarian on 441 by Nearlee New Furniture). He doesn't over-test and does his best to stay within your budget, plus he and his staff obviously love animals and treat all critters as if they were their own. He doesn't hesitate to refer an animal to Gainesville if he feels they can treat better than he. His front office looks pretty dated but the clinic part is very up-to-date with modern diagnostic and treatment equipment.

I hate boarding pets. It causes way too much stress in most of them. If you want to have someone keep your dog in their home, I highly recommend Yvonne Paradis. She loves the dogs she keeps as much as her own and spoils all of them rotten.

You can do a search here and find the phone numbers for both of them. (Sorry, don't have the numbers handy.)

I agree. I used Yvonne for my pup last week for a full week. She is attentive and caring. I hope to use her again in the future. I also hate caging my pup. She is part of the family when staying with Yvonne......and a BIG thank you to redwitch for recommending her to me.

I have used Buffalo Ridge Animal Hospital since we came almost 4 years ago and find it is thorough and much less expensive than up north. They are also the only 24 hr emergency vet here in case you need it.

I think taking the animal into the home varies from $15-35/day. If you want them to stay at your home, $50-100/day-night.

We use Village Vet for our girls. We see Dr Fox, and have been very happy with her and the office. One of our girls has multiple health problems, and we are very familiar with the Emergency Vet in Buffalo Ridge too. There was only 1 Vet there we were not happy with, the rest were very helpful. Just FYI, in case you don't know--we are very fortunate to have vet specialist for eyes, skin, ortho, and internal medicine near by. They are in Maitland which is just a little over an hour away.

Try Belleview Veterinary Clinic in Belleview.
Worth the 30 to 40 minute ride.
Great Vet. Dad and Daughter practice.
Boarding as we paid in Oct. 2013 was $13.00 per day.
They are currently looking to open a place somewhere closer to The Villages. Hope so.

We use Kathleen Smith 352 409-1642 and we love her. She has five beautiful acres and our two dogs are free in her home just like our home and kenneled only at bedtime. We totally trust her with our two dogs, Abby and Tedi, whom we love very much.

Our primary residence is not The Villages. I no longer board my dogs anywhere because of a past bad experience. At home I use a professional pet sitting service. They come in and spend the night(s) It's not cheap but I love leaving my pets home as they are already anxious once they see that dang suitcase! They love it and I know they get excellent care.

PARK HEIGHTS ANIMAL CARE-Dr. Candace Maganaro & Dr. Diaz....AWESOME Vets and reasonably priced-their "sister" location is the Village Veterinarian in Lady Lake but that office is on Villages property so the fees are a bit higher...We have a cat with B cell lymphoma and he is going on 1 year since diagnosis...we LOVE Park Heights..
