Default Something in the bushes.

Last evening around 11:00pm, I took my two little dogs out
for their last potty break. We have low bushes down either side
Of the walk way and something started to hiss at us. My male
Dog growled and that was enough for me. I grabbed both of them
And ran into the house.

Any ideas as to what it could have been?

Probably a feral cat.

It might have been an opossum or a cat.

I forgot that gators do hiss. But if it was a small hedge, more likely to be a feral cat.

Anyway, good decision to grab the dogs and retreat!

Yes, a cat does make sense...do not want to even think about an alligator.

Thanks to all for the info.
