Question Where to put the poop

Inquiring minds want to know ---My husband and I have debated on what to do with the dog poop. We will be building next spring. We have 2 large dogs and they can leave quite a deposit. I had suggested one of those in the ground things. He doesn't agree. So I guess he will be out there every morning and evening cleaning up the yard. Then, what? Where do you put it? Any suggestions out there?

Please don't leave it at mail stop, or placing in storm drains or storing in garage till pick up days. Consider putting it in the same place hubby leaves his. flush

Nothing like some good poop talk with coffee on Sunday AM

Our dog Caly (avatar) is about 80 lbs, so I have some experience here . We bag it right away and drop it in a 5 gallon plastic pail that seals tight where it remains until trash day.

I recommend practicing how quickly you can perform the following:
  1. Deep breath in, hold it
  2. open pail
  3. deposit load
  4. seal pail
  5. evacuate area
  6. exhale and breath normally.

ooooooooooooh...this is gonna be a funny thread. But, it's really true. We humans make deposits with no return. Dogs make deposits we really have to deal with. I will learn alot from this thread. Now, I have a small guy (dog, that is) that deposits small. I pick up with a sandwich fold top bag and then put it in a market plastic bag, tie it and then give it another market bag around it. I bring it home into the poopie garbage in the garage and there is no smell because of the double wrappings. I like the toilet idea, but then you have the rest of the deposit left on whatever implement you've used to dump it. Nah, I think Fumar's yard is yet the best.

Default One of the local dog parks is an option.

I take my dog to Doggie Doo Run Run almost every day to do his morning business and get some exercise. Both he and I need the exercise. He also gets socialized with other dogs and I get some socialization with the dog owners. All you have to do is mark the poop with a red flag at Doggie Doo Run Run.

At other times I carry some of Publix's plastic bags and either put his deposits in the toilet or just in the garbage bag in the garage.

My dog is small so I do not have to worry about large deposits and their smell.

The other dog parks in the Villages require you to pick up your dog's poop and put it in one of the trash cans they have around.

I am not sure where Fumar lives so that is not an option. Plus, he might be armed.

Can you give me Fumar's address? What time does he go to bed?

aj and tal-- thanks for the tips
Do you line the pail with a plastic garbage bag and where do you keep the pail? Do you put the pail out on trash day or the bags?
Do you find many workers who collect the trash lying by your driveway on pick up day?

I walk our standard poodle each morning, very early before neighbors wake up. LOL Wherever he poops, I pick it up with a plastic bag (empty bread bags are the best). I tie it up and put in a designated, trash can (with lid and trash bag liner) in our villa yard. Once a week, I put out in trash. Because the poop is wrapped already, I do not have to double bag the trash can liner. Also, smell stays outside, but with lid on always, no odor emits. However, I would suggest putting a brick or stone on top of the lid, as I do, because one time I opened the lid and a wasp or something came flying out. Now, with brick on top, no flying bugs. Aren't we a fascinating bunch?

My neighbor owns a dog, so I save The Daily Sun wrappers for him. Not sure what he does with it from there....

I make sure to keep many plastic bags in Mr. Winston's purse before I take him out. I have invented the "poop catcher" (just a section of the newspaper folded in half and slipped underneath Winston just before he poops..nice and neat.) I then deposit it into a plastic grocery bag, tie it tight, and put it in his designated trash can at home. Yes, Winston, nicknamed "The Poop Chute", did look at me like I was crazy when I first implemented the poop catcher, now he is used to it. Yes his trash can is the most repulsive thing in The Villages, but he is worth it

Default Solution to Waste and Smell

We always picked it up in a newspaper sleeve and then put it in a plastic grocery bag from Publix (earth colored) and store it in the flower bed by the garage behind the downspout of the gutter. There is a big grassy plant there as well (perfect camouflage and no smell). Come trash day, in it goes. Each time, I put the first bag into the second, etc. and by trash day, had only one bag to deposit. Now, that's how I do the litter box waste several times a day. I only change out the entire box once a week on trash day.

I wrap the plastic bag with the dog poop in another bag and then put these in yet another bag. Then that goes into the black plastic garbage bag.

Have not had any fainting workers by the garbage yet even though any dog passing by almost always has to peeing all over the bags waiting to be picked up. My dog is also quite busy peeing on various neighbors' trash on garbage day's eves.

Last year while driving on Morse in front of the mail pickup station I saw a very large St Bernard squatting and the owner put a shopping bag under its butt.

You are all hysterical with your ideas and stories lol .

I also vote for dropping it off at Fumar's house lol! That is a good one!

It is an excellent question, and lots of good ideas. Dilly I do the same exact thing and put my doggies doopies in the same spot.....by the garage, hidden by the bush, wrapped in lots of Publix bags and on garbage day....poof its gone! I do feel sorry for the garbage men in the summertime tho...pee-uuu!

I am sure you will get lots of good ideas and lots of good laughs from our clever TOTV'ers!
