On the west coast, Hellmans is Best Foods Real Mayonnaise. So, my preference is Hellmans. Have had both and Dukes is fine.
Miracle Whip, imho, the miracle is that they are still in business. Like non-dairy whipped topping pretending to be whipped cream, just doesn't taste good. Again, imho.

I find Aldi's own brand mayo just as good.
In fact, I find many of Aldi's own products as good as, and in some cases better than the big brand names, and a whole lot cheaper.

I'm about to open my first jar of Blue Plate. I don't like Duke's and if Hellman's has 60% of the American market, it must mean it's bland & flavorless in comparison to other options.
I loved the Blue Plate label, so that was my choice on my last trip to Publix.

Dukes all the way. When my husband and I first got married he insisted on Hellmans. I didn't care at all what kind of mayo we used. I'm not a big fan of Miracle Whip but every so often would crave it. Once I had Dukes I never wanted another mayo. Thankfully my husband likes Dukes and Hellmans equally so was fine with switching to Dukes.

Duke's mayonnaise:
Soybean Oil, Eggs, Water, Distilled and Cider Vinegar, Salt, Oleoresin Paprika, Natural Flavors, Calcium Disodium EDTA Added to Protect Flavor.
On the Hellman's container, it simply says "ingredients derived from a bioengineered source". Doesn't say what ingredient. Hellman's is now making a vegan mayo that does not have that.

I think all mayonnaise is bland. I always add something to give more flavor. Sriracha, lemon zest, lime zest, garlic, chipotle, etc. It depends on what I am making. The added ingredient(s) turns bland into extraordinary. Therefore, I buy whatever brand is on sale.

If given packets at a restaurant, the Helmanns is difficult to open, the seam down the middle of the back won't tear. Otherwise I doubt you can tell the difference.

Here are the Hellmann's ingredients from their website:
Soybean oil, water, whole eggs, distilled vinegar, egg yolks, salt, sugar, lemon juice concentrate, calcium disodium edta (used to protect quality), natural flavors.

If you have a preference, Dukes does not have bioengineered ingredients like Hellman's does.
They both use soybean oil 90% of which is roundup ready. Thus both using gmo soybean oil. This makes the plant resistant to roundup so easier for the farmer to control weeds and increases yield.
This being said there is no protein in oil so no dna material either.

Please explain. Both products contain "calcium disodium EDTA", which is the only ingredient that I don't recognize. Which ingredient in Hellmann's is bioengineered?
The EDTA is a chelating agent used to remove metals from the water. The metals are a catalyst to oxidation so removing them increase shelf life.
The gmo ingredient is the soybean oil. The seed is modified to make plant resistant to roundup increasing yield. They both use this soybean oil since 90% of the supply comes from this seed.

There is no trans fat in any oil. Trans fat is created in the hydrogenated process.

No such thing as vegan mayonnaise it would be a dressing. There is a standard to call it mayo which is at least 60% oil and egg yolk. Vegan mayo would not have egg yolk so not a mayonnaise.

EDTA is a cancer causing chemical and is added as a preservative. Avoid at all costs.
You can buy Chosen Foods Classic Mayo with avocado oil in a 1 qt bottle at Costco for a good price. Non GMO and Keto friendly.

Mayo is, simply put, egg and oil. Miracle whip has a unique flavor. This Jersey Girl grew up on Hellmans although my mother-in-law made Cole slaw using Miracle Whip and it was amazing. It’s actually a salad dressing according to the label. It’s good with anything with a tomato IMHO. Aren’t we happy to know that we have choices?

Me too. It was all my mom could afford feeding 7 on one income so she could be home with us full time. I loved it then, but didn’t know any better. Now I’d never eat it simply because of how fake and unhealthy it is, but having grown up in California I had no access to Duke’s until we moved here last year. We used Best Foods or a Trader Joe’s brand mayo. Dukes is good, but I consume very little mayo these days because they all have unhealthy processed seed oils in them, and I mainly eat a meat based low carb diet.

Can understand now why Miracle Whip is not the most popular if it is what we would call a Salad Cream.
Much thinner than a true mayo, but I like the taste.
Heinz is probably the most popular Salad Cream in UK.

Hellman's Vs Dukes....Seriously? Blue Plate blows them away! Take it from a Southern Boy.
Funny story, Growing up in Atlanta, I always told my Mom to put more Mayo on my sandwich. One day I ask for a Mayo sandwich (about 6 yrs. old). Mama was going to show me. She put it on thick and made me eat it....I told her it didn't have enough Mayo! She gave up.

I've always been a Hellman's man and not a fan of Duke's. As mentioned earlier, I recently bought some Blue Plate to try. I've used a little of it so far and the consistency is different. The real test will be when I make chicken salad. Chicken salad is all about the mayo.
