I was wondering what everyone has experienced on days out to complete their house? Ours was 96 days after we signed. We had heard before 75 days. Anyone want to share information?

Hi J...Our close date is 12/19 for our Gardenia. Signed contract on 10/13. Design person said sometimes depends on summer kitchen, pool, etc. Frame for concrete was put up yesterday :a040::a040:. Neighbor to right has close date in Jan. Your lot is also empty. Another factor may be the builder rotation. We may have just hit the right timing. As with everything from selling home to this, we have been VERY VERY lucky and are very thankful!
Helen - you're right. They never give a close date that they can't meet!

We signed for our Lily to be built on 8/16 and will close on 11/11. That includes extending the back and having a pool built by T & D. Hope this info helps.

What did you build?

We won't know until December!

We will be building a Begonia 2 foot stretch on lanai and garage. Our build time seems longer than average stated

Signed paperwork on June 13th to order Iris with 4' addition to lanai and garage. The closing was on August 31.

I am not kidding.....TV Developers....they are a well-oiled machine! The best!

The newspaper labeled their Open Houses in Sanibel today as "Final Phase". Driving thru our neighborhood, you can really tell. Just 2 lots need a house on our road (Fisher Ave), and don't have a count for the others. One is adjacent to ours. Hopefully it will be built on soon. Movers are bringing our furnishings in 2 days :clap2:

We signed & faxed back the paperwork on 10/21 for our Begonia on Ravencroft Terrace. We are having a stretch lanai of 4.4" added. They told us the house will be done on 12/29!!!:a040:
Anybody building on Ravencroft?:pepper2:

We also picked a Begonia but because of our lot we could only do a 2foot stretch on lanai and garage. We are on Alee I think You maybe behind us or we are behind you in the first section. We thought our 96 days was very long for tv, but that's ok I think that section will be complete before we get back there. Maybe everyone will leave muffins on my door step because they will be well settled before we can get back there.lol

Just got our Comcast service connected (2 hours ago) in our new home in the Village of Sanibel. After everything that is being said about Comcast, I felt compelled to post this entry.

It was probably the best experience that I ever had with a cable service group. The service tech, (Dave Austin), was very professional, knowledgeble, and efficient in getting us set up.

No problems whatsoever! Everything is working great, as promised.

Just felt that some positive words need to be said.

Sounds as though you have everything worked out well. We wanted the same arrangement but buyers in Miami don't want the rental arrangement --ours agreed however to delay closing until the closing in TV which worked out even better for us as we lucked out in having no extra expenses. Hi everyone. I'm Kathy and my husband is Bill. We went to The Villages about 6 weeks ago and bought a lot on Fort Walton Golf Course in Sanibel. I believe our street is Adrianne Way. We love our lot but had to buy a "Premium" lot because we want to build a Gardenia Designer home with stretches to both the garage and lanai. We will also have a pool so we had to purchase a larger lot. I, too am baffled at how few larger lots there are. The lot we got was the only lot available, at the time, to accommodate our larger home. We will be down in March to speck out the home and start building in April with a target move date the second week of June. We really can't wait to make new friends. We are active and are looking forward to "retirement." As far as I know our home will be the last one built in our culdesac. We will see everyone there!!!:2excited:

Hi Pete. Thanks so much for the map of Sanibel! My husband and I have only been to that area once to see our lot and we first thought our lot was in Hemingway but just found out today that we are in Sanibel on Adrienne Way right on the cul de sac! The map was so helpful to us. Now we know where we are going to live...he he!!!

Can't wait to meet our neighbors but we won't start building until April 1, 2012 so we'll see everyone in June! We also don't know much about the setting up of a home in the south, as we live in the North, so any advice will be appreciated as far as moving, where to get furniture and getting the garage apoxied (i know i spelled it wrong) and planting palms in our yard, pest control....any advice step by step would be helpful....Thanks everyone!

I, too am baffled at how few larger lots there are. The lot we got was the only lot available, at the time, to accommodate our larger home. :

Welcome to Sanibel! We bought a lot on Evesborough Way as soon as the area was open because we want a 2 car and golf car garage and room for a pool with screen behind the house.

Our realestate agent said there are not very many lots wide enough for a designer home and the golf car garage added on. I don't understand it either. I can't wait to build......the back of our lot faces a retention pond and Morse Avenue is beyond that. I went at sunset and it was very pretty.

Hi SkyC6. My husband and I bought a lot about 7 weeks ago in Sanibel! We will start building in April for a move date of June. We are in on Hemingway on the golf course and are probably building a Gardenia. Still want to look at the homes once more to be sure that this model is the right one for us. We are very excited! We live in Upstate NY.

We won't be down until the end of March to speck out the house. We live in New York State so it's not easy to travel back and fourth while our house is being built. We will start building early April for a move date of first/second week of June. So far, our choice is the Gardenia because we will also have a pool and the sliding doors will open at very large 12 feet, bringing the outside in! We will re tour homes when we come down in March just to be sure we don't like another model better. We too will put all the stretches in. All of the homes around us are almost finished so we will be the last.

Wouldn't it be nice if they offered these homes with the extra space where it counts (garage, lanai) without having to stretch them? I suppose they don't because they make more money by adding the stretches as extras....geez.

Hi happi! Close on our Gardenia at wend of cul-de-sac - Alee Lane - first Sanibellians! It was back & forth between Lily & Gardenia for 3 yrs while we decided. Love the front BR in Lily but didn't like the sofa backing up to kitchen counter as that is how the furniture is usually placed. Like split floor plan on Gardenia and LOVE it now that it is pretty well done. We stretched all over the place. Lanai, garage, front BR, side of house....our lot allowed for pretty much anything. We're from cold CT so we can sympathize w/all you NY upstaters!

We allocated three days but actually spent two days with designer. We knew what we wanted in the house so it was just a matter of what we wanted to upgrade. We stretched the lanai 4 feet 4" the front den on the begonia 3 feet to accommodate the closet. The designer we had was wonderful and patient and really helps with the many choices. She made a daunting task seem pleasant

We also purchased a property on Rain Lily Loop, Lot 180, left corner lot at the top of the loop. We have a buyer for our house here in VA and if all goes well will settle Jan. 31. I didn't get your Im. It could be on my husbands computer. I started this on his computer and then went onto my iPad to continue. Anyway that wasn't us. We were there on nov 10th through the 16 th. Our lot is the third down on rain croft. We will be back soon to plan design. I'm already concerned that we may have made a mistake. I'm almost sure the realtor told us that we cannot stretch anything as lot size is too small. After looking at this chat site I wonder if that might be a mistake. I already know I would prefer a larger lanai. I guess we,ll figure it all out after talking to the designers. My husband is still unclear as to our future so it's hard to figure out just what I should do. The one question you may be able to answer for me though is,"can you get recessed lighting throughout the house?". I noticed in the model homes that they were in the kitchens only. I would like them In The living areas too. Anyway looking forward to meeting you and Wayne sometime soon. When I saw your post I was happy to learn that you and your husband are the same ages (okay you,re a year younger than I am). Lol almost the same ages as me and Raymond. Denise

You are not locked into your lot. You can switch if you need more room.

If you were touring with a sales agent and talked about what you might like to do with the home as far as stretches, garage and all that takes up more space, then he/she should have told you that you needed a bigger lot. Our sales guy did and proceeded to show us a "premium" lot to accommodate a larger home. Hope it all works out for you. I think the lots sell so fast that it shouldn't be a problem to switch. After all, it would be more money for them if you bought a bigger lot.

Well, yes, it IS about Sanibel...the village and its people..... all getting to know a little about each other a little at a time maybe...

Didn't mean to make it an NFL/Geography/History class, and certainly not a battlefield. Back to bricks and mortar and stucco...

Good one!!!! :1rotfl:A lot of us Steelers fans are not happy with Ben. But you have that stuff with all sport athletes.

Can't wait to watch the games at Beef O'Bradys at Colony. I think this will be the hang out for all sports fans who live in Sanibel!!! There will be a stream of golf carts going to and from the "games".

Just joking, as I stated above. Actually, I am long time Steelers fan. As I eluded to, I have family in Pittsburgh. My mother was from Pittsburgh. I have been to Heinz Field. I have autographed helmets from Franco Harris and Jack Hamm. I was saddened when they put the Steelers in the same division as the Ravens, because I couldn't root for both. Although I do my best to cheer the Steelers when they play other teams. Being a born and bred Balti-moron, I gotta do that whole Homer thing, and root for the Ravens. So don't hate me, I don't HATE the Steelers. So lets root for our respected teams, have some good natured ribbing. See ya the tailgate parties.

Go Ravens

PS; The Superbowl will be Packers Vs. Ravens.

Maybe if they all make bail at the same time (see "good natured ribbing" comment above).:)

That O'Brady tailgate thought sounds like a winner. Perhaps the next TV-Sanibel club??

Just wondered what home others have built and what attracted you to that home? If you have already moved in, what did you change once you were in? It's fun to see what everyone else likes and dislikes.

We chose a Zinnia model because it has a big master bedroom and bath and also the front bedroom has it's own bath and walk in closet. The little bedroom in the middle can be an office. Also it has such a nice big lanai, almost the whole back of the house.

Every section / neighborhood is assigned a number. That is for the real estate people mostly. When you purchase your lot/home, you will be given the number, but you will also be given the address. Mine is actually 811 Fenwick Loop. It's all apart of Sanibel.

Yes, PeteDz, I'd appreciate the 176 list maintained if it's not too much trouble. We reserved our lot there in June and it was all sand. Came back at Thanksgiving and were Amazed at how fast things were building out. Our home in Houston is on the market since two weeks ago. When it sells we'll be heading that way!

Maintaining a list of all neighbors take a bit of effort. I live in Sanibel Unit-175 and had a prejudice knowing everyone in my immediate neighborhood. I thought that someone from each unit would take up the challenge to put together a list for their unit. Unit-175 has 198 homes by itself. That's a lot of info to research and maintain.

Sanibel has 4 Designer units (175,176,177, and 178) and 1 Cottage/Designer unit (197) with 2 Villas (Megan Villas Unit-949, and Paige Villas Unit-950).

Each unit is integral in determining its bond assessment, i.e. (Infrastructure Cost)/(No. of Homes in Unit).

I will make an initial attempt to put together a list for each unit, but would like input from fellow TOTV members for corrections or ommisions.

Give me a day, or so.

Our sales agent called and e=mailed us the layout of lots in the designer section of Fernandina the first week of Nov. We bought one on the first cul de sac on Killington Loop. I also wonder why these lots aren't showing up for sale. The premier lots are there but not the designer lots. We didn't really buy sight unseen. I like the Cedar better but the living room area is so tight and right on top of the kitchen. I also like the Begonia too. So as you can see I have not made up my mind on which model to get. I do like the location and the fact that I have the privacy wall behind us. They say location location is the way to go.

Any lots left in Sanibel? We're coming in April to buy. Seems that TV does not update their neighborhood maps...

hi patti: we are on the same side as bruce and barbara, our house is the iris, the third house down. it will be a shade of green. just for the record i picked everything out with the designer and picked the style of home last. i looked at them all and couldn't make up my mind but in the end i chose the iris. we are keeping our home in rhode island for a couple more years so we had to be careful with price. i have a large home and lots of property here and my thought was to get something smaller, less housework and less to care for. i don't think i will regret our choice. i do agree that the room size of the living space is small. i wish the living area was wider and i wish my lanai was wider but all in all i think i will be happy with what we chose. everyone there tells me you spend very little time in the house. hard for me to believe because here i am home lots. (home because i like being home)
i hope your designer will be as good as ours was. diane helped us and the process was so easy. diane knew what she was doing and was extremely thorough. you are going to be surprised as to how easy and how fast the process is. anyway good luck with sale of your home. in these times you'll probably have more frustration with that then with building. good luck. denise

Hi Denise & Ray,

Since you guys are buying the Iris do you happen to know what the size of the windows are in your model in the master bedroom and living room? I am wondering if they are standard? I have lovely cellular honeycomb shades I would like to take with me to The Villages. The windows in my bedrooms all measure 36 X 43 1/2. I had gotten them from J.C. Penney last year custom made. Was Diane your real estate agent? We have Wesley as ours. Wesley told us we would be working with someone as the Design Center but then again I heard that from other folks it would be Wesley. I think that has changed along the way. We are from NJ and I have lived here all my life. The taxes are so high. Our friends just closed on their house in December and shortly after that we arrived. We are so excited and I pray this house sells quickly. A similar model down our street took 8 months to sell so I am hoping ours won't take that long. I have it priced according to the market.

As everyone has mentioned you won't be spending all your time living in the house but outside doing all types of activities.

Take care. Patti

We are 3163 and Denise is 3109. We have a Begonia! We only had room to stretch the lanai or add a closet in the den. We chose the lanai. We couldn't do the sides. Oh well! Each model has it pros and cons.

Last May we put an option on a lot in unit#175 Sanibel. Our townhome in NC has not sold yet, but we are optimistic and anxious to get to sunny Fla. and meet all our new neighbors.

Gee, I think this list contains a little too much personal info.

So far as I can see, this is all public information.

I agree that this information can be found on the Internet if someone wanted to take the time to investigate the various resources and pull it all together.

HOWEVER

I would not want someone to publish my full name, address, age, age of my spouse, and price I paid for my home compiled in a neighborhood directory.

This is a posting of a "neighborhood directory" in a public place.

Not all the info on the list is accurate, but I don't mind the age mistake since it makes me appear younger....at least on paper.

We left the snow blower and shovels behind for the buyer in VA 1/30/12. We are in TV renting a CYV in Hadley. They start building our home in Sanibel Unit 177, lot 180, Monday, 2/13. Yeah! and it is my birthday too! We close 4/11 just 3 days after hubby's birthday. Spooky. The design process was a dream. Can't wait for the Captiva Potluck on 2/29 to meet new neighbors. JC

We also bought a lot in Sanibel and plan to build this fall. We are from Wisconsin and have been visiting TV for a few years. Waiting to retire and be there permanantly in two years. We were lucky to sell our home here and are renting a condo till we can relocate to TV. I'm so excited and ready to move as soon as we can! Until retirement we will have to settle for just long vacations and weekend whenever we can get away.
