Default Groaning/grinding

I have a groaning/grinding sound when my Yamaha Drive comes to a complete stop. I am out of warranty, but at my last annual service, which included a response to the same complaint, I was told the brake mechanism needed oil. The sound disappeared for a couple of weeks, but now, after a couple of months, the sound is back. There is no sign of leaking oil. Any ideas ??

The Yamaha drive does not have a conventional brake system, it has an enclosed system that is combined with the differential and is floating in fluid. It is more like a clutch in an automatic transmission than a dry friction brake system you would be use to seeing at each rear wheel.
I doubt if the brake system is grinding and I would go toward the area of a wheel bearing at fault.
