Default Battery Minder malfunction? Or batteries dying?

I have a 2010 Star Cart with original batteries. Bought a Battery Minder in 2012. We are seasonal, & generally leave Battery Minder connected over the Summer while we are gone - up to 5 months or so. Everything has worked as it is supposed to until very recently.
We went away for three weeks over the Christmas holidays, leaving the Battery Minder connected as usual. When we returned, the top light was flashing red, & the bottom light flashing green. Looked that up, it said the Battery Minder had "timed out". Since then, I have not left it connected long enough to "time out", but it will not reach the point where the bottom light flashes, it just stays solid green, indicating charging. This happens even when I fully charge the batteries with the "big" charger first and then connect the Battery Minder. The batteries still seem to be performing well, although the meter on the dashboard does seem to show somewhat more discharge with use than previously. How do I find out if my Batter Minder is malfunctioning, or if this is just due to aging batteries??

With out guessing, we would run a discharge and battery test on the battery pack and test each battery to find the fault of your issue.
