I'm still wondering about the meaning of this post...

If I were the prosecuting attorney I would print out your post and produce it in court as a written confession. You just admitted you broke the law...and knew it at the time you did it.

Sounds like you broke the law man up and take responsibility for your actions.

You did run the red light and the fact that the oncoming three lanes were all empty were not relevant. I do not believe that red lights mean stop unless "you think" it is unnecessary or a waste of your time.

And, now rather than accept responsibility for your decision not to obey the law and wait for the light to turn green, you want to see yourself as somehow the victim and waste the court's time.

You are not special and you do not get to pick and choose which laws you wish to obey and which laws you get to ignore.

Grown up, thank the office for doing his job and and consider this a learning experience.

Clearly you were raised differently than I was. Personally I was not raised to believe that I could ignore the laws or rules that I did not agree with.

I only took the time to offer my recommendation because you asked for recommendation.

I recommend that you learn to graciously accept responsibility when you are wrong and accept this as a learning experience.

I understand that I was fortunate that my mother raised me to understand that I was not special, except to her, and that I did not get to pick and choose which laws or rules that I wanted to follow.

Respectfully,

Tom

I dated a lawyer for several years who drove a sports car and had a heavy right foot. She charged $830 an hour for her services. However, when she got a ticket, she always fought it and always hired a local attorney who specializes in such things to do it—for about $250 (she didn’t care about the money, just the points). She told me that these ticket specialists know all the local judges and prosecutors and are much more effective at cutting a deal than she herself could be.

You’re guilty (through your own admission) - take responsibility and the punishment that comes with it.

This is true most everywhere.
You still pay the fine (usually more) plus court costs so you pay more up front. It prevents your insurance from going up more than 30% the next 3-5 years so the savings is there.

As mentioned earlier, Florida has a get out of jail free card for your first offense in the form of traffic school.

And how slimy is it for the insurance company to increase your rates over 30% for doing 10 over to safely flow with traffic? Something 80% of people do all the time.

I don't think this post is going the way you thought it would. What is there to fight? You broke the law by your own admission and got caught. Why spend a ton of money on an attorney when you were wrong and the ticket wont cost that much? Sounds kind of like you may suffer from entitlement to be honest.

Not slimy at all. If the traffic is going 90-95 miles an hour in an 80 mile an hour speed zone, the cops should ignore the laws being broken? You think the increased liability for the insurance company is the insurance company’s problem? I don’t think so. If you were 10 over, you own the issues that go with that.

Best comment on this thread so far. Too bad she will never read it. I think she will not return after seeing the first few comments.
