I have used Wildwood Tire for over 10 years, very satisfied with their work and prices.

I have used Sumter Tire for oil changes and other small repairs. But, whenever I have needed a major repair, their quote has been higher than other shops. Recently, they quoted almost double for a new AC than three other auto shops. Also, their prices for a battery and new tires were very high.

I recommend Michael's Automotive in Fruitland Park, and Firestone in Oxford.

Based on my recent experience, I can no longer recommend Wildwood Tire. I took my car there and told them that the AC was not cooling properly and I wanted a quote for a new AC system. I also told them that the coolant had been inspected and recharged within the past day and that it did not need a recharge. They totally ignored me, charged me $200 for a recharge, and told me that my AC was in good working order. That was hogwash. Apparently, they just did not want to replace the system. Michael's Automotive in Fruitland Park, diagnosed the issue in 5 minutes and replaced the AC system, including a new compressor.

I like these guys, but do they take appointments yet??

I used them a couple times, but it's "first come, first serve" and the third time I went I did not get in and was asked to come back.

The same thing has happened to me at Wildwood Tire and Sumter Tire. Who wants to wait 2 or 3 hours for a simple oil change? Now, I go to Firestone with an appointment.

Hilton automotive on 441 and 42. Been going there for 16 years. Nice men to work with and fair pricing. Family owned business. Right next to the gas station on the left side of 441.

Similar situation for me. Went to have some work done on my Mercedes Benz and the mechanic said they would not work on it. Go to the USNA Auto Shop at Annapolis when we are there. It has a lift and all the tools required.

I would base my recommendation on knowing what make and model of vehicle you need service for.
