Default R.I.P. Jerry West.

He was a very important force in professional men's basketball especially relating to the Los Angeles Lakers.

One of the greatest, to be sure.

Hard to remember is on-court exploits though without thinking of his co-star for many years, Elgin Baylor, who as I recall died not that long ago. What a lot of people don't know was that Baylor came on board before West: in fact he was drafted by the L.A. Lakers before they WERE the L.A. Lakers: The Minneapolis Lakers drafted him two years before their move to Los Angeles.

Not much NBA basketball on TV in the 1960s but I did remember watching the Lakers play several times on TV. Fun to watch both West and Baylor. The game was a lot different then.
