Our cars are insured, so are our homes. There is a market for owner/visitors like us who need an older car for longer than a week and don't care to give Hertz $1500-2000 to rent a brand new one. This is the same concept of Airbnb vs. hotels.
Not quite. Owners of a car and/or their insurance company are legally responsible for what a permissive driver does with that car. Cars can hurt/kill another person. Same laws do not apply to a home and a home is a lot less likely to kill/hurt a person than a car. If you ever rent your car, might ask your attorney if OK

I love the drive. Get off the interstate, slow down and see the country. It's really good. Take an extra day, look for interesting things along the way, find a new hidden gem of a greasy spoon or State Park.

Default Turo

Another vote for Turo. Have only used short term but may be able to snag a deal. We only paid $35 a day for 4 door smaller car but it did all we needed it to do.

After thinking it over for several days, the answer is still "NO"!

We have one car, one pickup truck, two golf carts, and a golf cart garage that has our lawnmower and other yard supplies in it. I sacrifice my car in the driveway, everything else fits under the carport.

Default Rent your 2nd car, continued

Since I posted this question, I've received and read several tips from (mostly young) drivers who are comfortable with renting one's own car and find it a profitable way to cover the costs of owning it. Companies already arranging these transactions: Driveshare, Getaround, Avail, Turo, Hyrecar and Rentall. You register, agree to the terms, they provide the liability insurance. It may seem impossible but this, like many other new ideas, is already happening and may become routine in the future.

But you didn't ask if there were any companies you could rent from. You were asking for individuals who live here who would be willing to rent their personal car directly to you.

The answer is - probably not.

No idea what you mean by "young drivers" - to me, that'd be someone in their 20's or 30's - and they don't live in The Villages.
