Has anyone played Belle Glade lately? Wondered about conditions.

I played Calusa last week. Good condition tee to green. Played Seminol Sunday. Tees and green are good. IMO the fairways are cut way too short for hitting irons off them on unless you take divots. I’m a scooper and don’t use hybrids or fairway woods so I need some grass under my ball.

The secret is missing fairways. Plenty of grass off to the side.

Don't think it's a matter of cutting too short. It's more likely that the grass is just worn down from the Winter traffic and dry conditions. Nice fairway conditions are probably two months away.

Disagree. Fairways are cut too short. This is true year round and has nothing to do with the heavier winter play.

You’re not hitting the golf ball correctly.

Fairways should be cut as short as possible, limited only by turf health and current growing conditions.

The fairways at Belle Glade are the original Bermuda grass. They are just coming out of their dormant stage and are starting to grow. In a month or so, folks will complain about how deep the Bermuda rough has become, and they can't find their golf balls. Eventually the greens will be converted to TifEagle and the fairways to a hybrid Zoysia or other hybrid grass that grows better in the winter. I experienced the same tight lies at Bonifay (Destin to Ft Walton) last Saturday.

I am the original poster - played Belle Glade with my out of town group on Friday. Course was in great shape.

Default Belle Glade conditions

Played Tequesta to Seminole May 2 morning. Greens were great, tee boxes and fairways were good. Last few fairways are looking tired.
