Angry Evans Prairie Practically Unplayable

Played Evans Prairie today (Killdeer to Osprey)

The greens were mostly dirt. It is frustrating to see a putt heading to the center of the cup, only to veer off at the last few inches due to bad green conditions. Fairways have a lot of bare spots and areas with grass were pretty much scalped.

Based on course conditions around The Villages, some maintenance supervisors and workers need to be fired. We pay our hard earned money for these courses. We should not have to be subjected to these poor conditions.

Our groups took it off the rotation. Total ripoff for that price.

Unfortunately that's golf in the Villages. There are always a handful of courses that are absolute crap. You really have to keep on the conditions before putting in golf requests.

I agree the course should be shut down. The greens are terrible for what we pay.

As a potential buyer (avid golfer) in The Villages, this is extremely concerning to hear!

Have played in Florida entire life. Only good courses are the ultra private golf courses. Middle of the road courses are OK but conditions have been going down. To find a good course in Florida be ready to pay 50K equity and 20K a year. A lot of good courses in the Orlando/Disney area but they are resort courses(5 hour rounds) and be prepared to pay $150 a round.

I sometimes wonder what the ancient Scots, who invented the game, would think of all the complaints over course conditions today. Really. If you want a challenge, play an un manicured course. Find out how good you really are. And, yes, I have. Sand, coral, rocks, briars and brambles, etc. Quite frankly, I sucked! But it was still fun. And, in the end, isn't fun why we play?

Default The Scots

What's more, in the beginning sheep "mowed" the fairways and, like the recurring complaint here, owners didn't pick up their droppings. "Watch where ye step, laddie!"

Evans is really bad.

Most courses are in good shape.

Agreed! I've enjoyed some terrible condition courses in the past, made fun by the fact that they were interesting, challenging, and dirt cheap. But The Villages promotes itself as a golf oasis, and you don't expect anything less than decent conditions around here. And some are getting pretty indecent!
