A terrible day I'll never forget and all those innocent people who lost their lives to this horrible act of violence. God Bless every soul.

11 years have passed. We will all remember where we were when the news started coming in. Although such a terrible senseless act against our nation, it was wonderful how all Americans joined in and came together.
Should be more like that everyday not just when a disaster strikes our country. |

It was a Tuesday morning just like this one, bright and sunny in NY, a "nothing special" day UNTIL. . .

It's going to be another beautiful sunny day in NYC - reminiscent of 11 years ago. According to the news this morning there will be no "officials" at the ceremonies--just family. Their stories are so sad.

It was in our backyard almost 40 miles away we watched the horror later to find that a fireman and two police officers from our immediate family were on the scene. They worked thru it, to this day they don't want to talk about what they saw.
Two of my nephews were on Wall St., it was close for them and hours until we found they were ok. Anther very good friend was a Vet from LI, he went there to help the rescue dogs looking for survivors then bodies. His account was chilling. Here's two pics of the dogs.

My husband and I both worked in the Verizon building, across the street from the World Trade Center. Our building was evacuated almost immediately. I was standing on the corner, looking up at the Trade Center when the 2nd plane arrived. It was the worst day EVER. I still have a hard time thinking about what I saw and an even harder time talking to anyone about it. We were lucky to get out alive, unlike so many others. Today, it's still hard to think about.
This is where we worked at the time. Verizon Building - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia |

CathyW, so glad you are OK. My BIL was in the pentagon and the next office did not make it out but all of his office did. I remember that day watching the news at work and realizing that his office was right near the hit- we had been visiting there about a month before. It took awhile before they could get the message out they were in the clear. It was enough to make them leave Washington DC. I don't think they every really did get over how close they came.
to all the victims, their families and friends my heart goes out to you. A terrible day for all. |
