For those who are new to The Villages I would like to point out to you that the church on the square although it does have non sectarian services on Sunday does not function like most churches and was meant to look like the church part of a typical old Spanish town, the theme for Spanish Springs. It is used primarily as a venue for musical performances and it's primary function isn't for religious gatherings as I thought for a long time before I bought tickets to one of the music performances. It is beautiful and looks inside just like a Christian church and has amazing acoustic qualities.

Those who know me will know that I meant no disrespect for any church of any kind nor for the folks who created the lovely ambiance of Spanish Springs.

The plans are to make it bigger and better as I understand it.

Bigger and better---let it happen! We have enjoyed several different performances at The Church on The Square---for newbies----don't miss Village Voices concerts as they are terrific.

We went to the Church on the Square today. The pastor, and singers, said 'goodbye'. I asked the pastor if the church was closing for good, and he said 'yes'. Does anyone else have other information? I'm afraid an icon of the villages will be gone, and I for one will be EXTREMELY disappointed/

Please read the POA article posted above by Bogie. It will be closed for renovations and expansion.

I have read the article. No place does it say the church will be used as a church in the future. The developer also did not say that in his last state of the villages speech. The pastor this morning said it will be closed as a church. The singers said goodbye. Do you have any information, factual, that says it will be used as a church in the future?

After speaking with one of the ushers passing out programs for a Sunday service recently, I am under the understanding that it will no longer be used as a church but only as an entertainment venue. My hubbie and I, too, are very disappointed as we have come to consider this our church home and love the services and the calming, joyful music and sermons that are (were) offered. Next Sunday will be the last service before the renovations start
