Default America 250 Marker Dedication

On April 19, 2025, at the Veterans Memorial Park, The Villages/Lady Lake, the Puc Puggy Chapter held their dedication of the America 250 Patriots Marker commemorating the men and women who fought for American Independence. This date coincided with the “shot heard round the world” 250 years ago on April 19, 1775, at Lexington and Concord signaling the beginning of the American Revolution. As part of the ceremony reenactors Jack Ciotti and Deborah Carr Hollingsworth portrayed that historic event. Speakers included Sylvia Walden, Puc Puggy regent, FSSDAR Regent-Elect Kim Zeman, Cindy Brown from Rep. Daniel Webster's office, Arlene Pfeuffer of the Veterans Memorial Park committee, and Lady Lake Mayor Ed Freeman. As part of the dedication ceremony Karen Carbonneau, America 250 Chair, presented John Rohan, director of The Villages Recreation & Parks Department, and Doyle Graf, The Villages town centers manager, each a DAR America 250 Commendation and medal for their role in getting the America 250 marker placed at the park. At the luncheon following the dedication Sue Roper, president of the Veterans Memorial Park Committee, also received a commendation and medal.
