Default January Loonies & Toonies Meeting

I've been asked to post the following notice by Pat and Dave, Executive Members

Happy 2014 to you all!

We would like to thank you for the terrific turnout at our Christmas Gala on December 11. We invite you all to see the many photos of the evening and peruse the wrap up summary at our website ... Loonies Home Page1

We will be having our inaugural meeting of 2014 on January 8, 6:30 PM, at La Hacienda Rec Centre. Doors open for registration at 5:30 PM. Please wear your name badges and bring your own beverages and snacks. The Villages Recreation Department has also requested that we ask all of our members to sign a standard Recreation Department Waiver release for the year 2014. The Waivers will be available at our registration desks.

Our special guests will be John Klopfenstein, VP, and Ocala Store Manager of Toronto Dominion Bank, who will share with us TD’s plans for carrying on business here in Florida and more specifically The Villages. As well, we will have Jimmy Collins, a senior partner in the Ayres, Cluster Law Firm located in The Villages. Mr. Collins’ expertise is insurance law. He will be relating to us the ins and outs of what coverage we think we have with our home and auto insurance (golf carts included) while we are here, and in reality what coverage we actually have.

We will also have on hand our very own “Just Mike” and his musical stylings to get you up dancing after the presentations.

At each monthly meeting we will now focus on our charitable ventures, which Wendy Poirier has graciously volunteered to administer. We ask that you please bring non-perishable food items in support of the Wildwood Food Pantry, making sure you check the expiry dates. Also, if you have any clothing or household items you no longer use or need, please bring them to donate to The Shepard’s Lighthouse. This allows us to share our good fortune with those who are suffering through a bit of a rough patch.

We will be continuing our sign ups for the following:

Canadian Snowbird Extravaganza
We have filled one bus, and we need a few more folks so we can order a second one. If you have never been to the Extravaganza you are missing a real treat. The CSA brings from Canada many talented groups and individuals such as John McDermott, Pavlo, Bowser and Blue and Jimmy Flynn, and many more. Admission is free. We ask for a $ 20 contribution to pay for the return bus fare [you can’t drive to Lakeland and back for less than this!].

Toronto Blue Jay vs Tampa Bay Rays regular season baseball game
This game is in Tampa Bay on April 1, 2014. Tickets and return bus trip are $60 per person.

Fourth Annual Canadian Loonies and Toonies Golf Tournament
The tournament will be held on March 10, 2014 at Eagle Ridge. Please make sure to sign up for this fun filled day of celebration ... over 18 holes Canadian Style. The price of $50 includes golf, dinner and prizes for many participants. More details to come!

The Ottawa Senator vs the Tampa Bay Lightning Hockey Game
This March 24 game has been sold out, but we will take some more names for our wait list.

We are looking forward to seeing you on January 8.
