We held our first meeting of this discussion group on Monday. Our guest speaker was Emilio 'Sonny' Vergara, past Executive Director of Florida Southwest Water Management Districts (3 of them). He gave a fascinating description of how Florida is unique as a state. He also gave an eye-opening description of various events in the past four years that have altered the work environment and success of the Florida Southwest Water Management Districts. Sonny described many reasons why the PASSING of Amendment I is so critically important. Let's work to get all educated voters to the polls in November.
Our next meeting will be held Monday, Nov. 3, from 10:00 a.m. to noon, at the Pinellas Plaza Library, room 102. Topic: Florida Urban Forestry Council and SECO Integrated Vegetative Management Team.
