Default ActiveX Controls

Somewhere is here, someone mentioned the web cams on the town squares and how you could go there and take a live look at the town squares. I gave it a try and got the following message:

The ActiveX Camera Control, which enables you to view live image streams in Microsoft Internet Explorer, could not be registered on your computer.

The link I was using (trying to use, that is) is: http://www.thevillages.com/lifestyle/cam_lsl.asp

How do I fix that problem so I can view the images?

Bryan, try this as it worked for me when I had the same problem. If you are looking at the Lake Sumter camera you will get that message so try the Spanish Springs camera. The link is a little different so I will include it here.
http://www.thevillages.com/lifestyle/cam_ss.asp . Now when you click on the SS camera you may get an message bar at the top of the window with the active-x message. Click on the message bar to load the active-x control and that should do it.

For some reason the message bar would not come up on the Lake Sumter cam for me the last time I had to install the active-x control. I had to add the program when either I put me new Vista 64 machine on line or I upgraded to IE8 but once installed it works great.

Firefox vs. Internet Explorer

I found that with Firefox I kept getting re-directed to my home page with either web cam. I switched to IE and then had the same issues as Hawkwind. So I followed his advice and downloaded the webcam for SS and now can view either square on IE or Firefox.

Thanks a lot!@ Followed your directions and now I can view either square. Wasn't too hard even for a technology-challanged CRS sufferer like me.
