I am seriously considering switching from Comcast broadband to an air card.
I understand and know from experience it MAY not be as fast as broadband....but after trying it...for my purposes and use it is fine. My question is can one incorporate the air card into the router I currently use to broadcast my wireless system here at home? Then I can use my laptop around the house as per normal. When I travel I would anticipate just removing the air card from the router and putting it in the laptop. Thanx for responses that may come. BTK |

You can buy a wireless router that takes an aircard. Need to think this one through. Comcast is $43 for broadband, however they have a slower speed for $24 a month. You have to ask for it. And it is still about 4 times faster then an aircard at the $24 rate. And the last time I checked air cards, they were about $60 a month and also you got added charges if your giga bytes transfered exceeded a certain volume. I had a friend who's aircard bill hit $600 one month. Now he does use it a LOT with big files and multiple users off his router. But it can get very expensive for a slower service.
I am also finding most hotels have free wireless now so travel requiring an air card should be less then it used to be.

I have a Verzion Wireless card which runs in TV at broadband speeds. It costs about $50.00 per month. My plan is unlimited because I got in very early several years ago but now they limit your usage then they tack on extra charges. Marriott is my hotel chain I stayed there 111 nights last year the mainline Marriott's and JW Marriott's all charge for internet service but the other brands in the chain have either wired or wireless internet for free. The ATT cards are not as fast as the Verzion my co-workers who have then have told me. |
