Default Control of the internet

I understand that the US is giving up control of the inter net.Not knowing what that really means I wonder what that really means. Can another country take control and really cause us problems. Never give up control of something you control.

what I have read and heard to date it was not even necessary to do and smelled more like a political decision to make others feel good or better about the USA.....google "why did Harry Reid give up the internet".

Does anyone understand what this means? Who knows what ICAAN is or what Verisign is? Who knows what DNS is? If the US controls the internet now and we are giving up control, then who will now control the internet? Perhaps a little research is in order before we start posting knee jerk reactions. It may turn out to be a bad move, but I for one don't know enough about it yet to say so.

It seems to me that people are jumping to conclusions on just what this is all about and what it means. I'm no expert in this area, but I did read the article at the following link and I think it will help some have a better understanding of this controversy. I'm sure some will still be confused, skeptical or whatever. I know I am at least to some extent. But each will have to determine for themselves if they can adequately comprehend the content and form their own opinions after reading the article.

What's in a name: Is the US really giving up control of the Internet?

The internet is used globally and intertwined with global communications, commerce, and economies...

Some sort of gradual shift to a global model was inevitable IMO.

I agree with BarryRx... understand what it really means before getting upset.
