Default Find my i phone....

My droid phone bit the dust about two weeks ago and I am now the owner of a new i phone., well, an iPhone 4 not the 4s. Anyhow, I'm trying to set up "Find my iPhone" and can't seem to get it to work. Doesn't seem to like my Apple ID or Password. Do I have to set up a me account? I already have an Apple account and was afraid that if I set up a me account, I'd somehow screw up things.

Anyone have that particular app and does it work?

I never found any of the "find my phone" apps that worked well. MOst of them were within a couple of miles and some across the US.

The ME account is free and then I think it's about $99 a year. I found just about everything the ME account offered for free online.

Thanks, Angie. The app is free from Apple, but I couldn't even get to the part where cost was mentioned. I have two Apple devices and generally, I'm looking for my Ipod most of the time.... Thought I'd see if this app worked. Now I don't think I'll bother. Will delete from phone, iPod and iTunes.

The ME app was free?

When I bought my I pad the ME app was free... The catch is when you put everything in the cloud, then get your email set up and have everything there... after a year, there is a charge. If that changed, I'm unaware of it, but it may have.

The find my iphone app was free from Apple. I'm not sure if the me account was free or as you said, I never got that far. Next time I talk to my son and daughter in law, I'll ask if they have this app and if they have to pay. They've had iPhones for a while. Actually my 7 year old grandson uses his Dad's old iPhone as an Ipod and he's been a big help. Now that he's in Chicago, I'm sort of "left to my own devices"......LOLOL.

My son-in-law has an ME account but just told me the other day something about the I-cloud stuff now being free. So - don't pay for anything (or commit to pay next year) until you get the real (updated answer)

Thanks, OG....I'm not going to do anything right now. Maybe the next time I'm near the Verizon store, I'll stop in and talk with the rep I dealt with when I bought the new phone. I keep hearing about iClouds, and of course fees are never mentioned...

I'm pretty sure you have to go under settings/mail/MobileMe/enter in your iTunes login/turn on allow to find. This is what you do for an iPad.

Are you kidding me????? You left the dark side for an iPhone??? OMG!!!!

Ha ha... Find my iPhone works really good. I have it on the iPad and used to have it on my iPhone....it IS free and it always found my devices within feet...

DOn't pay anything for ME, since the iCloud is coming tomorrow... and it's free and will automatically sync all your Apple devices.

Enjoy your iPhone....

Hiding my face in embarrassment....lol. Actually, my droid went beyond the dark side, it went plaid (Space Balls is one of my favorite movies..)

Have my iPod and now iPhone so I'd like to be able to find the iPod which seems to have feet.

My son and his wife have iPhones and now we can do Facetime, anytime and not just when I'm home with my iPod.

It's bad enough worrying about bytes, batteries and brainfog, now I've got to worry about clouds? YIKES...

No, I really enjoy the phone and actually got quite used to i properties since I use my iPod quite a bit. I'd pick up my Droid and have to think about how to use it.

memason is right... (did I really say that?) The cloud is free! I'm not sure how it works yet, but I just updated my phone and I now have the cloud with all it's components!

While being married to Angie and loving her to death, she is still a blonde. She asked the other day because she has a birthday coming up soon and the first number in her age will now longer be a 5. I don't want to say what her real age will be now. She has NO gray hair and is still a real blonde. This is not being typed under duress but I would hope this is never used against me in a court of law. Angie has the Iphone, Ipad, Itouch and an Iron and now she is going into the clouds. I may need to set the find my phone up to find her.
