Default Problem with Accessing TOTV on Windows 7 Computer?

I get sent to a strange address for TOTV when I click on TOTV from the Virgina Trace web-site or anywhere else so far. This goes to http:// ww2.talkofthevillages.com (DO NOT CLICK) which gives me a warning about not having a current Falsh Drive and if you push on this a blaring horn comes up with a message that I have to call some number for a technician because I have a fatal virus. This looks like a hack of some or kind or scam.

I do not know if it is just my computer or others.

DO NOT CLICK on this as it might open up a virus.

Just alerting TOTV about this problem. I hope it is just me and no something attached to TOTV that has people being hit with this garbage.

I will have to limit my access to TOTV though as I only have this use of this non Windows computer once in a while.

What a pain though.

OK let me see if I can help. First delete any and all short cuts you have to the TOTV site. Then go into Internet Explorer, and clear your history and cache.

Once this is done, do a reboot, and open IE. type in the correct address Talk of The Villages - The Villages, Florida

You should get to the correct site with no error messages. If you STILL get the wrong site and the message, stop, and take the computer to one of the computer clubs (I think the connected villager meeting is Monday at Eisenhower), or one of the people that work on removing viruses.

Hope this helps.

For what it is worth, I was getting diverted to the same address the other day.

I believe after I shut down for the night, the next day was fine.

I had it......just last week.
It would redirect me to goodmayor.com
My firewall would not let me go to that site.

You can google this and there is plenty of info out there.

I down loaded Microsoft Security Essentials.....it's free.
I also down loaded Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.....also free.

I ran them both and it cleaned it up.
MSE took a long time to run, maybe do it over night.

Hope this helps.

I'm on a MacBook Pro and it happened all day today. I rebooted and it seemed fine but then happened again. All of the above was repeated 7 -8 times today. Each time with same result.

I agree -- do not click on any of the messages nor call the third party number that claims it is computer support. It must be some virus sitting on this site since it hasn't happened to me anywhere else on the web.

Hopefully just a temporary nuisance. However it made me think, with a move to TV imminent, how lost I would feel without this site. I wonder if the Owner/Administrators of this site have any emergency plans in place.
