Default Ipad not working

My Ipad, which is not quite 2 years old, has quit working. It is stuck on a message about The Cloud. I can't close the message and while it's there the screen does not respond to touch. I tried shutting it down but can't slide the slider either. Any suggestions? Do I have to take it to the Apple Store?

Is the battery low ? The only time I have a problem with the screen locking up, is when my battery is low. Try plugging it in and see if that will reset it.

you can also try holding the power and the home button down together for 10 seconds and let it reboot.
