Default Need Help - Documents Folder

Perhaps someone here can answer a question or tell me where would be a good place to post the question on-line. I wasn't sure where to ask this. I upgraded operating systems, so when they restored my data from my external hard drive back to my computer there was a problem. They ended up using some special program to try to retrieve the files that did not transfer. Because of this my Documents is cluttered with a lot of things that were not seen there before. Things for example like: template-search which is a jpeg image, PNG files, GIF files, JScript file, and others. Some of it looks like if I had saved a webpage before, now it was breaking it down and showing a graphic from the webpage in a separate file. I would like to know how I can clean up this files so I can easily see my files I had saved and not all the graphics files and whatever else that is now listed there.

I would suggest that you create a new folder in your documents folder. Right click on the documents folder name to do this. Give it a name. Then drag and drop each file into this new folder. This is one way to get rid of the clutter in your documents folder without deleting anything you might need.

I second this as a quick fix. You don't want to start throwing things out willy-nilly, because some of it may be needed in programs or to view other docs.

I have a folder on my desktop called Stuff. I put things in there I'm leery of discarding till our son the tech guru can look them over. If you right-click anywhere on your desktop, a menu will come up. Go down to New, and over to Folder.
