Default Laptop - Is This Normal?

Never used a laptop before. Can you tell me if this is normal?

DVD drive seems flimsy plus it is hard to get the DVD onto the spindle

Also, I am used to a different brand of computer and the way the desktop looks on my desktop. This laptop is a totally different brand and I am lost looking at the desktop on it. Had to just click on a bunch of things to find the right program to try a DVD. I am wondering if you buy the same brand of laptop as your current desktop computer, would the desktop be more familiar? I just don't recognize all these icons.

If your laptop is new it is probably running Windows 8, which is apparently set up different from other versions. I am still getting used to Windows 8. It takes a while to find things and learn how to use it. Probably any laptop purchased this year will have Windows 8.

I second all above posts. If you download classic shell off of ninite.com you should be good to go. Sadly, the DVD drive flimsiness is normal.
