Default Reading on my iPad

Love my iPad. Have been reading books on it since I got it 2years ago.now that I'm in TV I am able to read for longer time periods and notice I am having trouble focusing, right after reading. Lasts for about an hour. Anyone else experience this? Suggestions? Don't want to have to back to paper

Might be the backlighting on the iPad, if you're reading at night. I have both Kindle and Ipad, and I find the Kindle to be easier on my eyes. It has some special kind of screen that is supposed to replicate reading paper as opposed to reading a computer screen. Just my opinion, of course.

I have the same problem with my kindle fire. The screen being backlit is just too bright for my eyes. I have a regular kindle that has no backlight and use that for my reading.

There is an adjustment for that. Pull down the menu at the top of the screen and click on the Brightness icon and adjust the brightness.

I agree. It's probably the brightness. On the IPAD, go to Settings, then Brightness to adjust.

I had a Nook Tablet and now have a Nexus 7. I have found that low brightness and a light gray background setting really helps.

It is definitely the back lighting of the products. It is a negative actually, for heavy readers. And they. Are very difficult to read outdoors.

That is why we have iPads and use Kindles for readers. The Kindle Fire is nothing more than an offering by Kindle to compete with Nook sales. It is not the preferred reader.

I highly recommend the Kindle Paper White. My wife and I gifted each other a PW for Christmas.
E-ink is much easier on the eyes, and the PW can be read anywhere, sunlight or in the dark.

I bought my Nook glow light for some of the same reasons and it's very easy on the eyes. I upgraded from the original nook when that model came out. Explored the Nook HD but realized the screen problem would be the same. It also works on a modified Android system so apps were somewhat limited. Borrowing ebooks from the public library is great!
