Default Need computer help.

We are looking for suggestions on who to go to for repairs. We have been hit with the " cryptolocker" virus which is a ransome ware program that slipped in thru an e-mail attachment we can't trace. We may have to find a way to wipe out the hard drive. Also wanted to warn others of this virus.

Don:

Try Aaron and/or Clarissa Brown, aka PCWizards. 138 S Hwy 441, Lady Lake. 352-350-0610. PC Wizards Home.

A couple both of whom have computer science degrees, I believe. Very helpful, and reasonable (I've never paid more than $50 per hour). They'll even set things up, with your permission, of course, so that they can access your computer from their facility and do stuff remotely!

A few months ago we had the money pac virus which locked up the computer. We took the computer to Best Buy and they wanted $200 so we went back home and downloaded the anti virus program AVG for free. It took about 5 hours for the scan to be completed but when it was done the virus had been detected and removed.

A second for PC Wizards - I have been very pleased with their work.

Probably the worst place to get your computer repaired (in my opinion) of course.

There are malware programs that you can buy and they work real well.

Thanks all for the suggestions and recommendations. Apparently this virus encrypted all the files and the hackers demand a payment for a key to undo the encryption within a certain amount of time. I can't access the internet to download any software to fix and the existing firewalls are blocked. We'll figure it a out.

This is exactly what happened to us. If you have two account users on your computer go in under the other account to access the internet then you can download AVG virus remover. If you don't have another account try adding another user to your computer if you can.

The virus we had also demanded a $300 payment on a greendot money card. Yeah right, like we would do that, lol. This virus also took my husbands picture while he was sitting on the computer and attached it to a FBI file claiming he was involved in criminal activities and had seized our hard drive files.

AVG got rid of this nasty virus.

If I were you, I would consider using CflGeek... They are a local company with an office in Leesburg, just outside of the villages!

They are fast, reliable, and very reasonably priced. PLUS they are highly involved on the forums here at The Talk of The Villages, and are constantly helping people on here with free advice!

We used them because of all the great reviews for them, and we were not disappointed!

Give them a call. You won't regret it! 352.435.7822

MD computers in Lady Lake. They are not fast, but they are good.
