Default need IE9 guru

since installing IE9 on my desktop [vista OS] i have not been able to see the photos that posters imbed for their items for sale on the totv website.

on other websites the pix dwnld but are blurry - sometimes they will clarify if/when i refresh the site [before frustrating!].

and on some websiteS the pix come in clearly! go figure!

googling an answer resolves the problem by going into the registry and making some modification - a possibility i quickly dismissed 'cause i am too technologically challenged to attempt entering my registry!

i am going to assume that this is a known IE9 problem since there are some google resolutions...does anyone here know of a less complex techie fix that i might be able to do to correct this problem - other than return to IE8?!

thanx for any answers!

Another vote for Google Chrome. It is a 1-minute download and is so much better (and safer) than IE.

3 OPTIONS, Firefox,go back to Ie8, Chrome. In preferential order, IMHO. Been there, have the t-shirt and anguish.

I am an IT guy by trade and a web developer/adminstrator by hobby. I concur with several opinions expressed here about the superiority of Chrome and Firefox. They are both standards-compliant, where even the latest versions of IE are challenged in this dimension. That being said, editing the registry is a piece of cake, as long as you follow the instructions you googled carefully.

I say keep ie9 and dump Vista. Nothing's great on Vista. Get Windows 7. The difference is night and day.

Thank you for everyone that posted. Ever since my Vista operating system asked to update IE from 8 to 9, nothing has worked to perfection like before the upgrade. I had to load Firefox to get my e-mail back up and running.

Techie where I work said that Vista stinks as an operating system and suggested Windows 7.

I will follow this thread closely. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm............

I agree.
I let MS to the upgrade to IE9. What a joke. Absolutely does NOT work with Vista. Easy enough to go back to the original IE, just go into your Control Panel and uninstall IE9. IE8 is still there.
You may want to change the updates, so they don't install automatically.
Of course IE9 doesn't do well with the Windows 7 Starter edition on my netbook either.
Works OK with 7 Home Premium, but all-in-all, I prefer FireFox.

KayakerNC;

Thanks for the tip to revert back to IE 8. I use to be a techie and now I know just enough to be dangerous around a puter. That's why I never go into the registry because if I remember correctly, one could really mess up their system if they didn't know what they were doing which describes me to a "T".

I fit the joke in when someone asked "how do you milk a porcupine".

Answer is "very carefully".

If you bank on line, IE9 doesn't work with several major banks, although they claim to be working on a fix.

Vista just plain stinks. Get Windows 7. Forget IE, it stinks too. Get Chrome or Firefox.

I have Windows 7 and IE9 on two PCs - a desktop and a laptop and have never had a problem with IE9 on either PC at any site.
