I tried to post a reply that included a link to the Microsoft web site to solve your issue but since I am new it thinks it was spam and was not posted. So here is a solution to your problem.

You are having a Compatibility issue and it is a very easy fix. This problem is caused by the web sites that you are visiting not having their software code up to date. There is NO need for you to go back to IE8 or use any other browser but I would agree with others to upgrade to Windows 7 and get rid of Vista.

Okay now to fix your problem.

1. Open a new window with Internet Explorer by going to the Start Menu and clicking on the Internet Explorer button.
2. Click the Compatibility View button on the Address bar. That button is on the right side of the URL line at the top of the page and looks like a piece of paper ripped in half. Sorry but I cannot produce the icon here.

That is all there is to it. Good luck.

IE, Chrome or Firefox... I have issue with all three. So I use different browsers with different applications. i.e. I use IE for TOTV, Firefox for Facebook and Chrome for the cams of LSL & SS.

One of the problems I haven't been able resolve is with the maps you'll find at thevillages.com - New Premier Series Neighborhood. I cannot see the individual lots and their status. On Firefox and Chrome I don't have the same problem.

Anyway, if I have a problem with one browser or if they are behind on features, I just go and copy the address and then paste to the address bar of one of the another browsers. Some browsers may be better than others, but I don't think any of them will ever come close to what we could call great!

thanx, virtual geezer! the compatibility view correction works well on most websites...prob does remain with viewing the pix of for sale and other pix that totv posters embed in their posts. i understand how the c.v. is working and will likely upgrade to windows 7...will have lots of time to think about it and read up on it while i am at home waiting for this annoying hurricane to pass by!

Glad to help you out. As far as other things not working in IE9 please let me know what they are and I will see if there is a fix. I just can't imagine what does not work after changing the compatibility issue. I do a LOT of surfing and follow some very obscure links and never had IE9 fail me.

As far as FireFox I have an old copy and all it is doing is taking up space on the hard drive. I loaded the latest version and when I found out that Google toolbar was NOT supported, that was the end of FireFox. I LIVE with the Google toolbar. I have none of the bells and whistles just the basic search block and I use that constantly. It is amazing how all you have to do is enter your problem and Google will find the answer.

Google is your friend at least as a search engine goes. Chrome, well that is another story.

Thanks for your offer, but I can't remember the other sites where I've been having problems at this time. You know what they say... "the mind is the second thing to go!" LoL However, I got a feeling that the compatibility feature just may be the fix for those problems too!

1. In IE9 click on "tools" then "internet options"
2. Go to the "Advanced" tab.
3. click on the "Restore advanced settings" button.
4. click "ok"
if some features are still not working the way you want them to, you can change them here and if things get messed up you can always just restore the settings and try again.
