Default A new but SECURE search engine

I just got this link from a cousin of mine who is in the computer software industry. Many of us use Google or Yahoo to do our Internet searches. Then we go to a website like Facebook and find ads for something we just searched for at Home Depot. Weird right? Well that is because sites like Google and Yahoo build a profile about YOU and then sell it to online advertising companies. So even if you are very carefull about your online presence, it is virtually impossible for others who want to know about you, not know about you.

This new search engine seems to be a step in the right direction. I am trying them out now and I want to see how long it takes before those ads don't seem so personalized.

Here it is. https://duckduckgo.com/

Other people don't see ads aimed at you. They see ads aimed at them.

Yes, I agree, but other online marketing firms and their employees know more about you than they should. A secure search engine is a good thing, don't you think?

If you don’t subscribe to Google and just use their Google Chrome browser with cookies turned off nothing is tracked.

I do not nor have I ever subscribed to google and I only accept cookies from certain sites and have gotten advertising from sites I have not accepted cookies to. I have my browser set to ask me every time a site wants to put a cookie on my computer. The ads come from the selling of information in addition to searching of your cookies. I have expeirimented with this going to a site not using google and also using google. The ads only seemed to pop up when I used the google search engine. I'm not an expert, I can only tell you what I have seen and how I tested my theory.

This https://duckduckgo.com/ search engine is new and I am testing it out and thought I would pass along what I think is a very good alternative.
