We just purchased a new home here in the Collier Village. Walking through the house I did not see one single cat5 outlet only coax outlets. I am guessing the only place you can plug in and get the full download speed in at the modem location? Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated. Placement of the modem is critical if I am limited to wireless speeds!

Thanks for the info on the modem and wireless router. I was wondering why they did not put any Cat5 outlets in a new home built in 2013? Do you know of anyone who can run some Cat5 to a few rooms? In order to get full use of the internet speed you need to plug directly into the modem or router. Wireless is limited in speed. Since I am south of 466A I have a choice of Comcast or Brighthouse. Back when I lived in Ovideo FL we has Brighthouse with Roadrunner and it was pretty good. Our rental house has Centurylink and it is horrible (both TV and Internet).

I have comcast, not the latest modem and an Apple router (Time Capsule) for wifi. Speed test just now is 33 megabits down, 10 up. That is pretty fast. I get all my TV over the internet with no problems.
Any electrician in the Sun classifieds will run wire for you at a pretty reasonable cost. |

Look into AC powerline adapters before wiring your home. Blazing Fast, cheap and extremely reliable.
