Old computer 5 years old and went to Best Buy to buy basic lap top. No streaming just emails Facebook and minor games. Found one $178 but they want 150 to 200 for the geek squad to come to my house and transfer info and set up new computer. Has anyone used a private party to do those things. I am computer illiterate. Watch for the announcements for computer club in the Thursday paper. There will be a contact person name & phone...call. They have a list of people who are great at computers and
will come to your house and do what you ask for a lot less $.

If you are just transferring FILES, this is a simple process. If you are trying to transfer SOFTWARE, you are in for a world of hurt. Most if not all SOFTWARE, will need to be installed from the original disks. If it is as old as the computer, it probably will not work (you might be lucky and be able to use comparability options), and you will need to upgrade to the current version of the SOFTWARE for windows 10 (?). At $178, it sounds like you purchased a chrome book or equal, if so, you will be out of luck, as your previous windows based SOFTWARE will be useless.
