Had my sister install Slingbox in Delaware so I can watch my NFL team over the internet on my computer. My nephew did the install and his is able to watch Slingbox from his home. I down loaded the "slingbox" player on my computer and was able to "log on", but when I search for my slingbox, the message is "can not locate my slingbox". Getting close to the pre-season games. Talk to Slingbox tech for about 2 hrs and they said every is OK on the De end, it must be something wrong on my end. Any suggestions? I have had some bad experiences with the Geek Squad up north. I have Road Runner thu Brighthouse.

Are you using HDMI cables ? According to this link, you need to remove the HDMI cables.

I brought my sister's laptop to my home and hooked it to my brighthouse cable. Downloaded the Slingbox player and I was able to watch the Local Philadephia TV stations last night. My computer must be missing something but, I do not know what. I able to watch "you tube & jibjab". Help!

Slingbox requires your computer to be of a certain minimum spec - have you checked this with the spec on the Slingbox you purchased.
For windows computers this includes all windows upgrades |

I use the Monsoon vulcano. It's set up in my son's LI home in his spare bedroom. So as long as I have an internet connection I get to watch whatever is on his TV. Pretty cool cause it has a virtual remote to change channels and I can even record and delete progamming on his whole house DVR that's in his master bedroom. I have a laptop with a HDMI output. I hook up to my plasma and I'm in business. I always record the games just in case of internet disruptions...
So that's how Al see his Jet and Met. |

Let's say as good as the best video streaming you have on the internet. Here is the catch. You need min of 6 MB download and upload speeds. My son has FIOS in NY and has great speeds. I have U-Verse in Memphis and have 12 MB download. I will get that when we move to TV. (the 12MB as U-verse not available in TV) By the way, you can use it on your smartphone. Here is the link Monsoon Multimedia Vulkano - Watch and control your TV from anywhere |

You are correct upload is key. While you watch you see the download speed. need 1.0 mb to get best quality. the best I have is just under 2.0 mb but the quality is the same...
Do not fear when you go to full screen all you see is the picture. I have a 15.6 Dell and it really looks great. By the way the model I have is no longer available. I paid a $100 and bought a 32 gig SD card. This way I can record and download later. Since I have the DVR access I do not need to record any longer! Good luck! |
