Default Outlook software

I mistakenly uninstalled my Outlook program when I installed Office H&S 2010 and now I cannot import my email into Windows Live; does anyone have a version 2003 or newer on a disk that I can buy for a reasonable price? Do not want to upgrade to Outlook 2010 because of cost and Windows Live will suit my use once I have recovered old mail and contact info. Thanks.

If you try to install Office 2003, it is going to ask you for the product key and will probably give you a hard time about using that license since the key is already registered.

Maybe you could try using the Microsoft forum first to see if there is a work around.

Here is a workaround I found in Google:

http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/o...0-594f65f9f45b

Maybe that will help. Basically you download a trial version of MS Office 2007 and use an Outlook connector to copy your PST file over to Windows live.

If you still have trouble, please PM me.

Would it be possible for you to accomplish what you are looking to do, by downloading and installing a free version of Mozilla Thunderbird instead of looking for a Outlook Disc?

Can you recover the program from the recycle bin?
Maybe you can use a restore point before you deleted? I do not know if this will work so maybe someone else can tell us.
I would call Microsoft or email then and ask if they could help you. Would not surprise me that they would help.

If I understand you correctly, your need for Outlook 2003 (or newer) is just to get your pst files converted so you can use Windows Live. Having used both I can not imagine why you would want to switch but that is your choice. I assume that you uninstalled Outlook but did not delete the pst file(s) associated with Outlook. If you did and you can not recover them, reinstalling Outlook is a waste of time. Assuming that you still have your pst files, I can think of several solutions:
  • try eBay for a used copy of Outlook
  • look online for a copy of Outlook2003 (might be cheaper than you think)
  • explore conversion programs that will convert your Outlook pst file(s) to a format acceptable to Windows Live. I found several on the web. Interestingly, it appears that some builds of Windows Live do not have Outlook as a source for conversion. If that is the case, you might try converting from Outlook to Outlook Express and then into Windows Live
