Just a FYI: some wireless routers let you plug in any USB printer and make them available on your network. Plug in your printer and then add network printer in control panel.

I think the best place to start is on amazon.com. Type in wireless printer in the search box. Many wireless printers will come up. Check out the amount of stars the printer received. I always go with the 5 stars. Then scroll down to the bottom and read the reviews. You can also do searches for the printer ink cartridges to see what they cost. Buying the cheapest printer is not always the way to go. Sometimes it seems they sell printers cheap and then charge you a fortune in cartridges.

We purchased a wireless printer sometime ago but waited until we used up the existing printer cartridges.

I assume the wireless printer comes with a software to load it onto my desktop PC and that I can also use that software to load it on to my laptop???? Is that correct? Is there another way. I have a gateway modem from Comcast which contains the router

Purchased HP Deskjet 3052A Wireless e-All-In-One Printer w/ ePrint Mobile Printing and Airprint at Walmart $69. works great with my laptop and IPad.

Whatever you do.. make sure your printer has a touch screen. It doesn't have to be fancy.. just make sure you can navigate it's menus via touch. This makes it sssoo much easier to navigate than other older models which require you to use the arrows, and keypads to change any settings.

i've had at least 4 different printers. The one I have now (HP wireless) is horrible. For one thing, if I'm away and don't use it for a few days, it "forgets" its wireless connection and has to be reprogrammed. Plus it goes through ink like crazy. Don't buy HP.

I agree with jblum315! I have a HP Photosmart 6510 e- All In One Series (wireless) and I HATE IT! It has stopped working and I don't know why- and I don't seem to be able to get it to work again, however maybe jbllm315 could give me some pointers. Paid a lot for this printer and would never recommend it to anyone! Perhaps I'm just not smart enough to figure it out even thought I have been using computers for YEARS!
I will never buy HP again. BTW can anyone help me figure this out?

Note: This is a somewhat technical article but most people can follow along.

If your computer regularly loses communication with your wireless HP product, it can help to give the HP product a static IP address. This address will not change over time and your computer might have an easier time recognizing the HP product after long periods of printer inactivity.

NOTE:This video shows the Windows 7 operating system and the HP Officejet Pro 8500A (A910a) e-All-in-One printer. The steps for navigating your operating system might be slightly different, but the steps to assign the printer a static IP address are the same.

Follow these steps to assign a static IP address to your HP product.
Refer to the network configuration page or the wireless network test report that you printed in Step one, and locate the IP address of the HP product.
Open a new Internet browser window, and type the IP address of the HP product in the browser's address bar, and then press Enter . A web page displays, showing the internal settings of the HP product.
Click the Networking tab, click the Wireless tab, and then click the IPv4 tab. (Your menu path might be slightly different, depending on your HP product model.) A new settings page displays.
On the page that displays, make the following changes:
Set a Manual IP : Your wireless router automatically sets an IP address within a specific range (called the DHCP range). If you know what the DHCP range is, set an IP address in which the last set of numbers is outside that range, but no higher than 254. Keep the first three sets of numbers the same. If you do not know the DHCP range, select a fairly high IP address, like 250 (again, for the last set of numbers). To learn about your router's DHCP range, contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) or wireless router manufacturer.
Set subnet address : Use 255.255.255.0, unless you know that it is different, in which case you should use that number.
Set the gateway address and the first DNS : Enter your router's IP (can be found on the network configuration page or the wireless network test report).

NOTE:Leave the second DNS field blank.
Click Apply . The screen will not refresh. If you changed the HP product's IP address from what you typed into your Internet browser, you will have to type in the new IP address to access the HP product. If you did not change the HP product's IP address, wait 30 seconds after clicking Apply, and then click the Refresh button in your browser.
Print another network configuration page (or wireless network test report) from the control panel on your HP product to verify that the product's IP address is what you assigned.
Turn off the wireless router. If the wireless router does not have a power button, disconnect the power cord on the router to turn it off.
Press the Power button ( ) on the HP product to turn it off.
Turn the wireless router back on. If the wireless router does not have a power button, reconnect the power cord to the router to turn it on.
Press the Power button ( ) on the HP product to turn it on again.
If you changed your HP product's IP address, there might be an additional step needed, depending on your printer model (this step applies only to Windows users):
Locate the HP folder:

If the Update IP Address entry is not present, then no additional steps are required.
If the Update IP Address is present, click it and enter the new IP address that you assigned earlier in these steps.

If your HP product is connected to the wireless network, and you are able to print and scan , there is no need to continue troubleshooting.

I have 4 wireless printers, but the best is a HP Photosmart D7460, and the reason i say the best is you can buy ink through eBay so cheap, like $6.00 for all six cartridges. so I stock up, Its older model, but you can still by a new one on eBay.

I agree. I've never had a printer as temperamental as this HP. It just quits from time to time and always when I really need it of course.

I moved to a laser jet printer because of the ink problem with inkjet printers. If we left for 3 months and came back the ink just would not work right. Tried leaving them in the printer, taking them out and putting them in the refrigerator and still had problems. With the laser jet no problems. If I want color just go to Walmart etc. and print it in color.

I was not aware that you could get color copies at Walmart. In the electronics department?
