Default Mouse problems all sudden?

My mouse won't scroll correctly. When I want to scroll down, it goes down some, then, when I try to scroll down some more it scrolls up or jumps up and down. I have to go over to the down arrow and grab it to scroll down or up pages.

Seems like the mouse doing the opposite of my command when rotating the wheel?

I suspect some upgrade missed it up. When I go into control panel try adjusting don't seem to help? Tried another mouse and it worked for while, which I thought fixed it. But, short time it done the same thing?

If this was 15 years ago I'd say it was RAM. How old is the computer?

Thanks for the suggestion, but I probably booted up several times? I shut my computer off at least twice week and if not I restart it. But I don't shut it off and unplug it from the outlet, so even though power button in off power still fed to it.

Perhaps it needs an interior cleaning?

Did you change to Windows 10 - I have had scrolling problems since I did. Have to go into device manager and reset the Human Interface Device continuously. Microsoft is at a loss how to fix it as well.

Yes, Windows 10, but it does it in 8 also. No, not wireless and I used another mouse after short time done the same thing. Haven't had time to check for dust. Wasn't that dusty two months ago when I cleaned i? But, will check again.

Try a different USB port.

Is it a laser mouse or the older mouse wth a ball in the bottom? If a ball, remove and clean the bars of dust and lint.

Sounds like either a battery problem or a lint problem or both.
