Cool How to keep using your old smartphone ??

If you're like me, you have upgraded your smartphones a couple times. With one, I was able to trade in the old one for a credit, but that was an unusual situation. Generally, I get a new phone, activate it and then I have an extra smartphone ... Right now, I'm sitting on 2 Android smartphones and one iPad that have been replaced. I am using these for various activities.

For those of you that have upgraded, for what are you using your old smartphone?

My old iPhone is now another iPod for me....allows me to leave my original ipod on the speaker dock. Another use.... At night I plug in a headset, turn on Netflix to an old Charley Chan movie and then drift off to the land of nod....I'm asleep before the introduction is complete.

It's now a "toy" for my 2-yr old grandson.

I did a factory reset and put it in airplane mode. The only icon showing is for the picture gallery. I put about 200 family pictures on it. He sits with the phone in one hand and flips through pictures with the other hand.

By the way, this has stopped him from nagging his mother for her phone so he can do the same thing.

My old smart phone is usually on my nightstand being used as a clock and alarm. If I want I can turn on the Wi-Fi and use the other apps.

Cool

These are all good uses of the replaced smartphone. Sometimes, it's hard to remember that it is simply a small computer that you can occasionally make a phone call. With WiFi, you can use all of your apps.

They make great permanent additions to the stereo equipment as music players or to listen to radio station.

I like the clock/alarm clock idea for the bedroom...

If you have a Google Voice number, you can actually use the old smartphone to make/receive phone calls over WiFi, as well as texting...

Keep the ideas coming....

There are also several web site that will but old working cells phones and several organizations where you can donate the phones for various causes.

NOTE: Very important, make sure that you have deleted ALL personal information before you get rid of the phone. If you are not sure how to do this try your carrier, or where you purchased your new phone.

In general, used iPhones sell for more than the original subsidized price. So far I have sold 6 on eBay. Most go to Eastern Europe

I sold on eBay too and was shocked at how much they go for!
