Default Speed of Sprint vs Verizon data cell network?

My wife and I just each acquired an iPhone 4S with Sprint, and are experiencing dropped calls, poor voice quality and weak Internet conneectivity.

Sprint Cust Service are still trying to help, and have indicated that the Nearby towers are being worked on today 10/24 and again till 10/26 in our zip code 32162 at Sunset Pointe, after which they expect the signals should improve.

I have till 10/30 to decide if I should stay with Sprint or return the phones and move to Verizon. With Sprint, checking Speedtest.net, I am getting about 50 kbs download, but it does vary to a rare high of 120 kbs and a low of ZERO!

I will know by 10/27 if there is any significant improvement after the work on the nearby towers, but before I cancel and switch to Verizon by 10/30, I would like to know if any of you could tell me if you are getting satisfactory voice and data service with Verizon on your Smartphones, and what data speed you get on Speedtest.net.

Any feedback here is appreciated, or you may call me (while I still have the phone) at 321-7845.

Thanks

Tony

Default An update . . . Re Verizon data speed

I had just sent my previous post from my iPad at the Lake Miona Rec centre and noticed a smartphone user nearby, so I asked him what speed he was getting.

He was using a Motorola Android smartphone with the Verizon 4G network, which he said is pretty prevalent in TV. I asked him if he would show me the speed he was getting on Speedtest.net, and he ran it and showed a speed of over 13 MEGAbits download and over 8 MEGAbits upload, faster than I can get on my extra high speed DSL link with CenturyLink at home in Sunset Pointe.

All I can say is WOW!!!

i will have to rethink Apple vs Android (as the iPhone is not yet 4G) as well as Sprint vs Verizon.
