Default SyncUp

I have windows 7 on both my laptop and desktop computers. Both came installed with SyncUp. SyncUp is aggravating. I know enough about computers hardware or software to get me into trouble but not near enough to get me out.

What are the advantages/disadvantages when deciding whether I should remove SyncUp. In other words do the benefits outweigh the liabilities?
I am not a high tech guy so I am not interfacing smartphones, camera, etc. but I am a little concern that I might be giving up some security?

Cool

I see you're not getting replies, so let me take a crack at this one.... If I'm wrong, someone will correct me...ha ha

As I understand the program SyncUp, it simply syncs the files between computers on your WiFi network. In other words, if you have files on your laptop that you would like to have on your desktop, the program will keep those files Synced, so if you change the file on the laptop, it'll also change on the desktop.

As for security....I'd say the security is having the files on 2 [or more] computers. For instance, say you have all your tax documents on your laptop. If the laptop hard drive goes south, you have probably lost all of those files; assuming you didn't back them up some other way. If you were using the SyncUp program and selected those files or folder for Syncing, then all of those files would be safe on your desktop machine. Sort of an automatic backup process, without the headache.

In addition, there are options to backup data to the "cloud", using the program.

Hope this helps explain the program. Perhaps, someone else has a better explanation or is using the program. I believe it comes standard on all Dell computers

memason: Well you expanded on my understanding of this program. Thank you. I believe I need to explore its capabilities before I throw the baby out with the dishwater..
Thank you.

By the way I did exactly as you suggested regarding the system fix and it fixed it without a hitch. I even surprised myself given my lack of technical acumen. Again thank youi
