Default Time for a new cell phone

My kids tell me I am still using the "dumb phone" and I need to catch up a few years. My fear is being a guy I need the phone to be waterproof, able to last being dropped frequently, fit in my back pocket with me sitting on it and to be able to halfway see without glasses. I am with Verizon.

Where is the best store that my cart will take me that would have the patience to deal with me?

Oh yeh and any suggestions on a phone?

The Verizon store on Rolling Acres at the corner of Rolling Acres and 441 were just great to deal with. We had no intentions of using, or even wanted to learn how to use a smart phone, so they sent us to Radio Shack, the phone cost us $9.95, and Verizon programmed it for us for free. The phone is basic, but now that I am learning to use it, I find I have a camera, I can text, and can use several other options which I thought I never wanted.

BUT, you you cannot get there by golf cart - sorry!

I don't know if everybody who does not have a smart phone understands that one must subscribe to a data package to facilitate the use of the phones capabilities. The data package usually runs around $30 per month.

The newer "dumb" phones while much improved do not have access to any "smart" capabilities. That is not a negative statement, just statement of fact. There are many who have no use for nor desire for what smart phones do.

It is strictly a function of desire, need and affordability......it is not a necessity!

You are right, Billethkid, and I am one of those with no need for "smart" phone. My dumb phone at $10 a Month (free device) serves me well. I use it as a phone....and occasionally to text. Serves me just fine.

Go to Walmart and get there StraightTalk phone service. It runs on the Verizon network and has a flat monthly fee of $45. You buy the phone up front but you will save that cost within the first year! StraightTalk.com

Straight talk is a great deal. They have a few plans that can be explained to you by the very knowledgable Walmart people in that dept. they are a no contract company which uses other cell phone towers, all legal of course.

While we're talking phones - are there any recommendations for service provider? our phones are used mostly south of 466A. We're currently with AT&T and are experiencing spells of very weak signal or no signal at all.

I have a good signal with Verizon. I will go to Walmart, ugh, but I prefer to stay with Verizon. Is there a Verizon store around?

The Verizon store is at the corner of Rolling Acres and 441. Would not change from them for anyone.

My old phone started to go and I hated the idea of giving up my flip phone but had no choice. I ended up with an iPhone and I'm sorry I waited so long. It's user friendly and user instinctive. Got a great deal thru Verizon for unlimited minutes, unlimited texting and 2 gigs of data. Best new electronic I've gotten in a long time.

The Verizon Store on 441 is good to deal with. We purchased cellphones from Best Buy/Verizon and I am sorry we did because Best Buy could care less. So when we repurchase it will be directly from Verizon.

We have a dumb phone and I do not want to go to a smartphone because the $30 per month is creating overlap. I will buy a smartphone when my internet/phone/TV carrier adds cellphones to their bundle

The down side for us is that one of the Samsung phones we purchased didn't link to our car Bluetooth. Verizon was surprised one of them did link.

So the first question I am going to ask when buying a new phone is can it link to my car Bluetooth an internet site will answer that question
