Default Dvd player

My DVD player was recently shipped here from MA and a message on the screen reads "disk is not inserted." There is definitely a Disk in the player. Does anyone know of someone who might look at it? It is quite new and I hate to dump it if it might be remedied. If not, does anyone have an extra they want to sell at a reasonable price?

My guess laser is out of alignment. Assuming you have an HDTV, I would advise you to toss the dvd player in the trash and go buy a new blu ray player. You can get a decent blu disc player for $50.

I would try inserting a different factory disc making sure it is right side up. If it does not play get a new player.

Another thing that could possible be wrong is if a neighbor from England gave you the disc that will not play, only discs from the US and Canada will play on a US machines. Most machines can be hacked allowing them to play disc from around the world.

IMO; if it is older... I would not bother with a repair. Most likely is it cheaper to replace it.

Blu-ray DVD players are getting inexpensive.

If you don't rent Blu-ray DVDs, a new regular DVD player (480p) can be had for a very low price.
