Default VCR to DVD

Has anyone used the software to convert old VCR tapes? Or did you use a mail away service? Thanx

Default Dazzle by Pinnacle Systems

I have a Dazzle converter which plugs into a USB port and have used it along with the software which comes with it to convert our old family VHS tapes. Works great.

I have an old VCR and a DVD recorder for when I want to do this. I also put the old video camera tapes on DVD. If you ever get an old DVD recorder, keep it.

Default VHS to DVD conversion

I did this on my Macs with a Sony DVMC DA2 Analog to video converter bringing the clips into iMovie. There are boxes that do this and burn a dvd, but there is no editing of footage that isn't wanted. Garbage in garbage out. Just keep the best footage, not everything on the vhs tape.
The Sony converter uses RCA composite cables in and outputted using Firewire IEE 1394. There are adopters to this cable for other ports such as USB 3 or Thunderbolt. It all worked great but took time to edit. Plus it took up lots of hard drive space. The Sony converters came out around 2000. They can still be found on eBay. Elegato also makes a converter. Not sure why software it uses.
There is a place in Bellview on 441 that transfers video to dvd. I think they advertise in the paper.
